Apple добавила в iPhone поддержку обмена сообщениями RCS (Rich Communication Services), о чем Google просил уже давно. Однако сообщения RCS не защищены сквозным шифрованием, сообщает 9to5Google.
Поддержка обмена сообщениями RCS стала доступна пользователям iPhone в США после второго бета-обновления iOS 18. Клиенты телекоммуникационных компаний, таких как AT&T, T-Mobile и Verizon, теперь могут использовать RCS, который позволяет им видеть статус доставки сообщений независимо от того, прочитаны они или нет. RCS также имеет индикаторы ввода текста, а также улучшенные возможности обмена файлами.
Однако в нынешнем виде сообщения не имеют сквозного шифрования и имеют ограниченные настройки SMS и MMS. Ожидается, что эти функции будут добавлены с выпуском стабильной сборки iOS 18 этой осенью.
Google неоднократно просил Apple добавить поддержку стандарта RCS в iMessage, который продвигает Google. Этот стандарт не имеет ограничения на количество символов, поддерживает отправку фотографий без нажатия и групповые чаты.
