ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղարի տեղակալ Ուզրա Զեյան հուլիսի 14-ին այցելել է Հայոց ցեղասպանության հուշահամալիր՝ Հայաստանում ԱՄՆ արտակարգ և լիազոր դեսպան Քրիստինա Քվինի ուղեկցությամբ:
Հյուրերին դիմավորել է Հայոց ցեղասպանության թանգարան-ինստիտուտի տնօրեն Էդիտա Գզոյանը: Նա հյուրերին ուղեկցել է դեպի Հայոց ցեղասպանության հուշահամալիր՝ ներկայացնելով հուշահամալիրի ստեղծման պատմությունը:
«Տիկին Զեյան ծաղկեպսակ դրեց Հայոց ցեղասպանության զոհերի հիշատակը հավերժացնող հուշակոթողին, այնուհետև հյուրերը ծաղիկներ դրեցին անմար կրակի մոտ և մեկ րոպե լռությամբ հարգեցին Հայոց ցեղասպանության անմեղ զոհերի հիշատակը:
ՀՑԹԻ տնօրեն Էդիտա Գզոյանը ԱՄՆ-ից ժամանած հյուրերին ուղեկցեց Հուշապատի մոտ, որի հետնամասում հատուկ խորշերի մեջ ամփոփված են 19-րդ դարավերջին և 20-րդ դարասկզբին թուրքական կառավարության իրագործած հայերի զանգվածային կոտորածների և ցեղասպանության դեմ իրենց բողոքի ձայնը բարձրացրած օտարազգի մի շարք հասարակական, քաղաքական գործիչների, մտավորականների և միսիոներների գերեզմաններից վերցված հողով լի փոքր սափորները: Հենրի Մորգենթաուի և Կլարա Բարտոնի հայանպաստ գործունեության մասին պատմելով՝ նա շեշտեց, որ նրանց կատարած աշխատանքի շնորհիվ ամերիկյան հասարակությունը քաջածանոթ էր Օսմանյան կայսրությունում տեղի ունեցող հայերի կոտորածներին, և որ ԱՄՆ-ի կողմից Հայոց ցեղասպանության ճանաչումը նաև հարգանքի տուրք էր այդ մարդկանց հիշատակին: ՀՑԹԻ տնօրենը հյուրերին ներկայացրեց նաև Հիշողության պուրակի պատմությունը և նշեց, որ առաջին ծառը տնկել է ԱՄՆ սենատոր Ռոբերտ Դոուլը՝ ի հիշատակ Հայոց ցեղասպանությունը վերապրած, ամերիկահայ վիրաբույժ Համբար Քելեկյանի, 1997 թ.-ին»,- ասվում է հաղորդագրության մեջ:
Ըստ աղբյուրի՝ պատվիրակության անդամները շրջել են նաև Հայոց ցեղասպանության թանգարանում, ծանոթացել մշտական և ժամանակավոր ցուցադրություններին: Ուզրա Զեյան նաև գրառում է կատարել Պատվավոր հյուրերի հուշամատյանում: Շնորհակալություն հայտնելով այցի համար՝ ՀՑԹԻ տնօրեն Էդիտա Գզոյանը պատվավոր հյուրին նվիրել է Հայոց ցեղասպանության մասին գրքեր, ինչպես նաև Արա Քեթիպյանի «Azeri Aggression against Armenians in Transcaucasia (1905- 1921).
