Բանգլադեշում առնվազն 20 մարդ է զոհվել, ավելի քան 5,2 միլիոնը տուժել է հեղեղումների հետևանքով, որոնք առաջացել են չդադարող մուսոնային անձրևների և վարարած գետերի պատճառով, հայտնում է Reuters-ը՝ վկայակոչելով պաշտոնյաներին։

Հեղեղումների հետևանքով բազմաթիվ  մարդիկ մեկուսացման մեջ են հայտնվել և սննդամթերքի, մաքուր ջրի, դեղորայքի և չոր հագուստի խիստ կարիք ունեն, հատկապես հեռավոր շրջաններում, որտեղ փակ ճանապարհները խոչընդոտում են փրկարարական և օգնության աշխատանքները:

Կառավարության գլխավոր խորհրդական Մոհամմադ Յունուսը հեռուստաուղերձում հայտարարել է, որ վարչակազմը ձեռնարկել է անհրաժեշտ բոլոր միջոցները, որպեսզի ջրհեղեղից տուժածներն արագ վերադառնան նորմալ կյանքի։

Բանգլադեշի օդերևութաբանական վարչությունը նախազգուշացրել է, որ ջրհեղեղների հետևանքները կարող են պահպանվել, եթե մուսոնային անձրևները շարունակվեն, քանի որ ջրի մակարդակը շատ դանդաղ է իջնում: Ջրհեղեղից տուժած 11 շրջաններում ավելի քան 400․000 մարդ ապաստանել է շուրջ 3․500 ապաստարաններում, որտեղ մոտ 750 բժշկական խումբ  տեղում բժշկական օգնություն է ցուցաբերում, իսկ Բանգլադեշի բանակը, ռազմաօդային ուժերը, նավատորմը և սահմանապահներն օգնում են փրկարարական գործողություններին:

Համաշխարհային բանկի ինստիտուտի 2015 թվականի վերլուծության համաձայն, աշխարհի ամենախոցելի կլիմայական երկրներից մեկում՝ Բանգլադեշում  3,5 միլիոն մարդ ամեն տարի ենթարկվում է գետերի վարարման վտանգի: Գիտնականները նման աղետալի իրադարձությունների վատթարացումը կապում են կլիմայի փոփոխության հետ։
