Երեկ՝ սեպտեմբերի 15-ին, խոշոր ավտովթար է տեղի ունեցել Արագածոտնի մարզում: Ժամը 18:00-ի սահմաններում Երևանի բնակիչ 25-ամյա էդուարդ Ալեքսանյանը իր վարած «Toyota» մակնիշի ավտոմեքենայով Երևան-Գյումրի ավտոճանապարհի 14 կմ հատվածում, ժողովրդին հայտնի Աշտարակի նախկին «Գայի պոստի» մոտ, դեպի Աշտարակ ընթանալիս, դուրս է եկել երթևեկելի գոտուց, բախվել ծառերին, 2-ը կոտրել ու հայտնվել երթևեկելի գոտուց դուրս:
Ինչպես դեպքի վայրից հայտնում է ֆոտոլրագրող Գագիկ Շամշյանը, վթարի հետևանքով Է. Ալեքսանյանը, նրա ուղևորներ, Երևանի բնակիչ 33-ամյա Արա Գասպարյանն ու Արարատի մարզի բնակիչ 29-ամյա Անի Հովսեփյանը մարմնական վնասվածքներով տեղափոխվել են Երևանի «Արմենիա» բժշկական կենտրոն:
Վիրավորներին առաջինը օգնության են հասել քաղաքացիները, օպերատիվորեն ժամանած ՀՀ ներքին գործերի նախարարության փրկարար ծառայութան Աշտարակի հրշեջ-փրկարարական ջոկատի փրկարարներն ու «Աշտարակ» բժշկական կենտրոնի շտապօգնության բժիշկների հերթապահ խումբը:
Օպերատիվորեն ժամանել են ՀՀ ՆԳՆ ոստիկանության պարեկային ծառայության Արագածոտնի մարզի գումարտակի 1-ին վաշտի պարեկները՝ գումարտակի հրամանատարի տեղակալ Աղասի Խաչատրյանի, վաշտի հրամանատար Ռոման Միրզախանյանի գլխավորությամբ:
Տարածքը սահմանազատել են նույն վաշտի պարեկներ Կարեն Թունյանն ու Գոռ Պողոսյանը: Դեպքի վայր են ժամանել նաև ոստիկանության Աշտարակի բաժնի պետ Սերգեյ Մարտիրոսյանը:
Վթարի մասին ոստիկանության Աշտարակի բաժնից տեղեկությունը փոխանցել են ՀՀ քննչական կոմիտեի Արագածոտնի մարզային քննչական վարչություն, որտեղից ժամանել է քննչական խումբը՝ օրվա պատասխանատու հերթապահ քննիչի գլխավորությամբ:Վթարի փաստով քննչական վարչությունում նախաձեռնվել է քրեական վարույթ:Դեպքի վայրում հավաքված մի քանի քաղաքացիներ նշում էին, որ վթարի ենթարկվածների մեջ կա դերասան և տիկտոկեր:
