Գիտնականները պարզել են, որ Երկիրը կարող է գոյատևել ևս մոտ մեկ միլիարդ տարի: Սակայն, ինչպես ասում են, կյանքն այլևս նույնը չի լինի՝ այս ընթացքում մեր մոլորակը, ներառյալ կլիման, ակտիվորեն կփոխվի արեգակնային ակտիվության պատճառով։
Հաջորդ միլիարդ տարիների ընթացքում Արևը կփայլի ավելի ու ավելի պայծառ: Արեգակի պայծառությունն արդեն աճել է 30%-ով, և պայծառության աճը կշարունակվի։
