Ժպտալը պարզապես դեմքի շարժում չէ, այն մի շարք հաճելի զգացմունքների արտահայտման ձև է, որը նույնիսկ ազդում է մեր առողջության և ինքնազգացողության վրա:
Ժպտալիս արտադրվում են երջանկության հորմոններ՝ սերոտոնին, էնդորֆին, դոֆամին, օքսիտոցին։
Ժպիտի տոնը 25 տարեկան է։
Այն առաջին անգամ նշվել է 1999 թվականին: Տոնը նկարիչ Հարվի Բելի մտահղացումն է եղել։ Հարվին նաև առաջին սմայլիկի հեղինակն է։
Ժպիտի օրվա մասին խոսելիս Հարվին նշել է. «Ժպիտը չի ճանաչում աշխարհագրական տարածք, քաղաքական հայացքներ կամ կրոնական պատկանելություն: Յուրաքանչյուրս տարին գոնե մեկ անգամ պետք է տարածենք միայն ժպիտ և բարի արարքներ գործենք»:
Մասնագետները նշում են, որ մեծահասակները օրական ժպտում են միջինում 20 անգամ, երեխաները` մինչև 400։ Դա նշանակում է, որ երեխաներն ավելի հակված են ժպտալու։
Ի դեպ, հոգեբանները նշում են, որ առկա է ժպիտի շուրջ 19 տեսակ։
