Հետազոտությունները ցույց են տալիս, որ արյան ճնշումը նվազեցնելու համար սխտորի թուրմի օգուտը հավասար է հատուկ դեղամիջոցների օգուտներին։ Սխտորի թուրմը կարող է նվազեցնել խոլեստերինի մակարդակը 15%-ով:
Բացի արյունը նոսրացնելուց, սխտորով ջուրը կարող է նաև նվազեցնել արյան մեջ գլյուկոզայի մակարդակը: Արյան բարձր շաքարը կարող է հանգեցնել շաքարախտի կամ գիրության:
Գիտնականները պարզել են, որ հում սխտորը կարող է նվազեցնել գլյուկոզայի մակարդակը։
