Արտաշատում հայտնաբերել են Հայաստանի ամենահին եկեղեցին

Հայաստանի Գիտությունների ազգային ակադեմիայի և Մյունստերի համալսարանի հայ-գերմանական համատեղ թիմը հնագույն Արտաշատ քաղաքում կարևոր հայտնագործություն է արել՝ պեղելով Հայաստանի ամենահին՝ 4-րդ դարի կեսերով թվագրվող քրիստոնեական եկեղեցու մնացորդները։ Այս գտածոն վկայում է Հայաստանում քրիստոնեության վաղ տարածման մասին։
Նշվում է, որ այս վաղ քրիստոնեական կառույցն առանձնանում է եզակի ութանկյուն կառուցվածքով, որը նախկինում անհայտ էր Հայաստանում, բայց նույն ժամանակաշրջանում տարածված էր Արևելյան Միջերկրական ծովի ափին։
Պեղումների խումբը տեղում աշխատում է 2018 թվականից՝ ուսումնասիրելով նրա հելլենիստական և վաղ քրիստոնեական ժառանգությունը: Այս վերջին հայտնագործությունը հարստացնում է Հայաստանի քրիստոնեական անցյալի ըմբռնումը և կարող է օգնել բացահայտելու եկեղեցու պատկանելիությունը, պոտենցիալ կապելով այն հայոց պատմության առանցքային դեմքերի հետ: Ութանկյուն եկեղեցին, որի տրամագիծը մոտավորապես 30 մետր էր, ուներ պարզ շաղախված հատակ՝ հախճապակե սալիկներով:
Մարմարե շքեղ զարդարանքը, որը հավանաբար ներմուծվել է Միջերկրական ծովից, հուշում է շենքի նշանակության մասին: Արտաշատը, ժամանակին Հայաստանի Թագավորության մայրաքաղաքը, կենտրոնական դեր է խաղացել երկրի պատմության մեջ Արտաշեսյան և Արշակյան դինաստիաների օրոք։ Հետազոտական թիմը նախատեսում է շարունակել պեղումները՝ հույս ունենալով բացահայտել այս ուշագրավ վայրի մասին լրացուցիչ մանրամասներ:
