COP29 կլիմայի համաժողովը Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի միջև խաղաղություն հաստատելու համար պատմական հնարավորություն է, հայտարարել է եվրահանձնակատար Նիկոլաս Շմիթը Եվրախորհրդարանի՝ էր հայ-ադրբեջանական հարաբերություններին և Ադրբեջանում մարդու իրավունքների իրավիճակին նվիրված լիագումար նիստում։
«Ադրբեջանն ու Հայաստանը երբեք այդքան մոտ չեն եղել տասնամյակներ շարունակվող հակամարտությունը հաղթահարելուն։ Համաժողովը պատմական հնարավորություն կլինի Ադրբեջանի և Հայաստանի համար՝ աշխարհին ցույց տալու իրենց նվիրվածությունը խաղաղությանը և դրսևորելու քաղաքական կամք՝ ստորագրելու խաղաղության համաձայնագիրը։ Որպես Եվրամիություն՝ մենք շարունակում ենք լիարժեք աջակցություն ցուցաբերել կարգավորման գործընթացին և պատրաստ ենք մոբիլիզացնել անհրաժեշտ ռեսուրսները, որպեսզի բոլոր կողմերը կարողանան քաղել տևական և կայուն խաղաղության օգուտները»,-ընդգծել է հանձնակատարը։
Ըստ նրա՝ Ադրբեջանը կանգնած է կարևոր ընտրության առջև՝ ինչպես երկրում մարդու իրավունքների իրավիճակի, այնպես էլ իր հարևանի՝ Հայաստանի հետ խաղաղ գործընթացի առնչությամբ։
«Պետք է բաց պահենք մեր հաղորդակցության ուղիները և օգտագործենք մեր հարաբերությունները՝ խթանելու համաիր մարդու իրավունքները, խաղաղությունն ու կայունությունը Ադրբեջանում և ամբողջ տարածաշրջանում»,-հավելել է Շմիթը։
