«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է.

Իշխանությունների հնարած «Ակադեմիական քաղաքը» լավագույն դեպքում կարող է գործել 8-ից 10 տարի հետո, բայց բուհերի «քանդման», փակման գործընթացը սկսվում է հենց այս օրվանից: Պարզվում է՝ չեղած բանի մասին խոսելով՝ թույլ չեն տալիս, որ բուհերը ներքին վերանորոգումներ իրականացնեն, ենթակառուցվածքներ ստեղծեն, լաբորատորիաներ բացեն: Այս մասին «Փաստի» հետ զրույցում նշում է կրթության փորձագետ Ատոմ Մխիթարյանը՝ տեղեկացնելով, որ հրաման կա՝ որևէ բան չի ֆինանսավորվում, որը կապված է ենթակառուցվածքների հետ:
 
«Բոլորի համար ակնհայտ է, որ «Ակադեմիական քաղաքը» «Նոր Վասյուկին» է՝ այստեղ այսպես կլինի, տիեզերք կթռչենք և այլն: Իրականում սա ինչ-որ մեկի, ընդ որում՝ բարձրագույն կրթություն չունեցողի գլխում ծագած գաղափար է, որին ցանկանում են օրենքի տեսք տալ: Օրենքի նախագիծ են մշակել, որի մեջ գրված է՝ լինելու է «Ակադեմիական քաղաք», այսքան հեկտար տարածք է ունենալու, և չի թույլատրվում դրանից դուրս բուհական որևէ ենթակառուցվածք ստեղծել»,-ասում է Մխիթարյանը: Նա նշում է, որ այսօր ունենք ուսանողների թվի նվազում. 10 տարի առաջ ուսանողների թիվը երկրի բուհերում 100-ից 105 հազար էր, իսկ հիմա՝ 70 հազարից քիչ է:
 
«Վերջին 10 տարվա ընթացքում Հայաստանում ուսանողների թիվը կրճատվել է 30 տոկոսով, վերջին 5 տարվա ընթացքում՝ 15 տոկոսով: Դրան զուգահեռ կրճատվել է նաև պրոֆեսորադասախոսական անձնակազմի թիվը՝ վերջին 5 տարում ավելի քան 12 տոկոսով: Բուհերում, որոնք 100 հազար ուսանող էին տեղավորում, հիմա 70 հազար էլ չկա, սրանից էլ բխում է, որ 30 տոկոսով ավելի շատ տարածք կա: Չնայած դրան, միևնույնն է, ուզում են ծախսել գումար՝ նախնական հաշվարկներով առնվազն 3 մլրդ դոլար, և կառուցել ինչ-որ ենթակառուցվածքներ՝ մարդկանց առումով առանց այն էլ «աղքատացած» համալսարաններն այնտեղ տեղափոխելու համար»,-ասում է կրթության փորձագետը:
