Մարբուրգի տենդով վարակման դեպքեր սկսել են գրանցվել ոչ էնդեմիկ տարածքներում, օրինակ՝ Ռուանդայում։ «Ռիա Նովոստի» գործակալության փոխանցմամբ, այս մասին հայտարարել է Ռոսպոտրեբնադզորի ղեկավար Աննա Պոպովան։
«Մարբուրգի հեմոռագիկ տենդի դեպքերն ավելի հաճախակի են դարձել։ Տասն օրվա ընթացքում Ռուանդայում 66 դեպք է գրանցվել։ Մահացությունը կազմել է դեպքերի գրեթե մեկ քառորդը», - ասել է Պոպովան Ադլերում անցկացվող Ռուսաստան-Աֆրիկա գործընկերության ֆորումի նախարարական համաժողովի ընթացքում «Ինֆեկցիաների դեմ պայքարի ջանքերի միավորում» նիստի ժամանակ։
Մարբուրգի վիրուսային հիվանդությունը, որը նախկինում հայտնի է եղել որպես Մարբուրգի հեմոռագիկ տենդ, ծանր հիվանդություն է, որը հաճախ մահացու է: Վիրուսը մարդկանց մոտ առաջացնում է վիրուսային հեմոռագիկ տենդի ծանր ձև: Այն պատկանում է վիրուսների նույն ընտանիքին, ինչ Էբոլա վիրուսը: Երկու խոշոր բռնկումներ, որոնք միաժամանակ տեղի են ունեցել Գերմանիայի Մարբուրգ և Ֆրանկֆուրտ քաղաքներում, ինչպես նաև Սերբիայի մայրաքաղաք Բելգրադում 1967 թվականին, նպաստել են հիվանդության նախնական հայտնաբերմանը: Բռնկումը կապված է եղել Ուգանդայից ներմուծված աֆրիկյան կանաչ կապիկների (Cercopithecus aethiops) օգտագործմամբ լաբորատոր աշխատանքների հետ:
Հիվանդության մահաբերության միջին մակարդակը կազմում է մոտ 50%: Անցյալ բռնկումների ժամանակ մահվան ելքով դեպքերի ցուցանիշը տատանվել է 24%-ից 88%-ի սահմաններում՝ կախված վիրուսի շտամից, հիվանդության վերահսկումից և բուժման որակից:
Մարբուրգի վիրուսը մարդուց մարդ է փոխանցվում վարակված մարդկանց արյան, կենսահեղուկների, ինչպես նաև այդ հեղուկներով աղտոտված մակերեսների և նյութերի (օրինակ՝ անկողնային պարագաներ, հագուստ) հետ անմիջական շփման միջոցով (վնասված մաշկի կամ լորձաթաղանթների միջոցով):
