Իրանի արտգործնախարար Աբբաս Արաղչին, Սիրիայում ռազմական գործողությունների սրման ֆոնին, Դամասկոսում Սիրիայի նախագահ Բաշար ալ Ասադի հետ հանդիպումից հետո մեկնել է Թուրքիա։ 

Ասադի հետ հանդիպմանը նախարարը հաստատել է Իրանի աջակցությունը Սիրիային ահաբեկչության դեմ պայքարում և պատրաստակամությունը տրամադրելու տարբեր տեսակի օգնություն այս հարցում։ Ասադն ընդգծել է, որ Սիրիան շարունակում է պայքարել ահաբեկչության դեմ իր ամբողջ տարածքում՝ նշելով, որ այս դիմակայությունը ծառայում է նաև ամբողջ տարածաշրջանի կայունությանը և անվտանգությանը։

Իրանի արտգործնախարարն այնուհետև ժամանել է Թուրքիա, որտեղ նա մտադիր է հանդիպել նախագահ Ռեջեփ Թայիփ Էրդողանի հետ և  քննարկել Սիրիայում տիրող իրավիճակը, հայտնում են իրանական լրատվամիջոցները։

Ավելի վաղ Սիրիայի պաշտպանության նախարարությունը հայտարարել էր Հալեպ և Իդլիբ նահանգներում կառավարական ուժերի և ահաբեկիչների միջև մարտերի մեկնարկի մասին։ «

Հայաթ Թահրիր ալ Շամ» ահաբեկչական կազմակերպությանը (նախկինում՝ «Ջաբհաթ ան-Նուսրա») պատկանող խմբավորումները խախտել են դեէսկալացիայի համաձայնագիրը և հարձակվել բնակեցված տարածքների և ռազմական օբյեկտների վրա։ Սիրիական բանակի պատասխան գործողությունների արդյունքում ահաբեկիչները զգալի կորուստներ են կրել։
