ՌԴ-ն Սիրիայի նախկին նախագահ Բաշար ալ Ասադին, որին ապաստան է տրամադրել, չի արտահանձնի որևէ այլ երկիր, եթե Միջազգային քրեական դատարանը նրա կալանավորման օրդեր արձակի: Այս մասին, kommersant.ru-ի փոխանցմամբ, հայտարարել է ՌԴ ԱԳ փոխնախարար Սերգեյ Ռյաբկովը:
«Նախագահ Ասադը Ռուսաստանում է: Նման իրավիճակում սխալ կլինի իմ կողմից ենթադրություններ անել, թե ինչ է տեղի ունեցել և ինչպես է իրավիճակը հանգուցալուծվել։ Բայց նա ապահով է: Սա ցույց է տալիս, որ Ռուսաստանը գործում է այնպես, ինչպես պահանջվում է նման արտառոց իրավիճակներում»,- ասել է Ռյաբկովը:
ՌԴ ԱԳՆ ղեկավարի տեղակալը նաև ասել է, որ Ռուսաստանը հույս ունի, որ Սիրիայում ստեղծված իրավիճակը չի հանգեցնի երկրի մասնատմանը։ Նրա խոսքով՝ Սիրիան «պետք է լինի ինքնիշխան, միասնական և ամբողջական»։
Նոյեմբերի վերջին Սիրիայում իսլամիստական խմբավորումների կոալիցիան հարձակում է սկսել կառավարության կողմից վերահսկվող տարածքների վրա։ Նոյեմբերի 30-ին իսլամիստները գրավել են Հալեպը, իսկ դեկտեմբերի սկզբին՝ Համան և Հոմսը։ Դեկտեմբերի 8-ին հակակառավարական զորքերը մտել են Դամասկոս և հայտարարել Բաշար ալ Ասադի վարչակարգը տապալելու մասին։
Ինչպես այն ժամանակ հայտնել էր Ռուսաստանի արտաքին գործերի նախարարությունը, Սիրիայի առաջնորդը բանակցություններ է վարել իսլամիստների հետ, հրաժարական է տվել և լքել երկիրը։ Այնուամենայնիվ, իսլամիստները հայտարարել են 10 միլիոն դոլարի պարգևատրություն այն տեղեկատվության համար, որը կօգնի ձերբակալել նախկին նախագահին։ Ավելի ուշ հայտնի է դարձել, որ Բաշար ալ Ասադն ընտանիքի հետ ժամանել է Ռուսաստան, որտեղ նրան ապաստան են տվել։
