Science Robotics: созданы новые микророботы для адресной доставки лекарств

Ученые из Калифорнийского технологического института создали микророботов, способных точно доставлять лекарства в нужные участки тела. Работа опубликована в журнале Science Robotics.

Микророботы представляют собой сферические структуры из гидрогеля и способны переносить терапевтические препараты. Для их создания ученые использовали методику двухфотонной полимеризации, которая позволяет «печатать» структуры с точностью до нанометров. Это позволило сформировать сферы диаметром около 30 микрон (примерно толщина человеческого волоса).

Микророботы оснащены микрополостями, которые удерживают пузырьки воздуха, необходимые для их движения. Под воздействием ультразвука эти пузырьки вибрируют, создавая потоки жидкости, которые толкают роботов к цели. Передвижение устройств можно отслеживать в реальном времени с помощью ультразвукового сканирования, что упрощает контроль и корректировку лечения.

Микророботы уже прошли испытания на лабораторных мышах с опухолями мочевого пузыря. Они помогли уменьшить новообразования значительно эффективнее, чем традиционные методы. Следующим этапом работы исследователей станет тестирование технологии на людях.

Ученые уверены, что в будущем их разработка сможет использоваться для лечения различных заболеваний.
