Կանադացի հոգեբան Ջոն-Լին առաջարկում է սիրո 6 հիմնական տիպեր
1. Ստորգե. սիրո այս տեսակը հիմնականում առաջանում է իրար կողքի ապրող մարդկանց մոտ, երբ նրանք համակրում են միմյանց, իսկ հետո որոշում են ընտանիք կազմել: Այս տիպին պատկանող սիրահարները ժամանակ չեն վատնում միմյանց աչքերի մեջ նայելով:Նրանք առանց էմոցիաների արտասանում են <<ես քեզ սիրում եմ բառերը>>:
2. Լուդոս. Առաջացել է <<խաղ>> բառից: Նրանք ովքեր սիրում են այս սիրով, երբեք իրենց կյանքը չեն նվիրում մեկ զուգընկերոջը: Նրանք չեն սիրում խոստանալ: Լուդոսը ոչ ընտրողական, անկայուն սեր է միտված թեթև հաճույքների, որը ծայրահեղ եսակենտրոն սեր է:
3. Մանյա.սեր-մոլեգնություն, որը առաջանում է էռոսի և լուդոսի համադրությունից: Սա ծայրահեղ վատատեսական, ինքնաքայքայող կիրք է: Նրան հատկանշական է հոգեկան ցավ և խուճապ, քնի և ախորժակի կորուստ:Մանյան շատ անկայուն և անհարթ զգացմունք է, երբ մարդը դառնում է իր սիրո գերին մշտապես գտնվելով մեկ գրգռվածության, մեկ ճնշվածության մեջ:
4. Պրագմա. այս սիրո տեսակը առաջանում է լուդոսի և ստորգեի համադրությունից: Սա հանգիստ, հավասարակշիռ զգացմունք է, այստեղ իշխում է միտքը, որին ենթակա են հույզերը: Պրագմայում էական է զուտ կենցաղային հաշվարկը: Պրագման պլանավորված զգացմունք է: Այն նման է կապվածության, համակրանքի, հիմնավորված է և ռացիոնալ: Պրագման կայուն է և տևական:
5. Ագապե. Այն լի է ալտուրիզմով: Ինչպես և հունական տարբերակում կենտրոնացած է սիրած էակի վրա, լի է անձնվերությամբ: Ստորգեի նման հոգեկան և հոգևոր զգացմունք է, համբերատար է և դիմացկուն, բայց առավել կրքոտ, ինչով և հիշեցնում է էռոսը: Այն առաջացել է էռոսի և ստորգեի համադրությունից:
6. Էռոսը դա կրքոտ և այրող սեր է: Այսպիսի սիրո մեջ լավ արտահայտված է սիրած էակից հոգեկան կախվածությունը: Էռոսը ենթադրում է մեծ ձգտում մարմնական գեղեցկության նկատմամբ: Մարմնականի ձգտումը նրա մեջ առաջին պլանում է գտնվում, նամանավանդ հարաբերությունների սկզբում: Սիրահարները այստեղ մեծ նշանակություն են տալիս մարմնի ձևին:
