«Մենք քայլեր ենք ձեռնարկում». ԱՄՆ պետդեպի խոսնակը՝ Ռուբեն Վարդանյանի եւ մյուս հայ գերիների մասին

Միացյալ Նահանգները շարունակելու է հետևողականորեն կոչ անել Ադրբեջանին՝ հարգելու մարդու իրավունքները, այդ թվում՝ բանտարկյալների հիմնարար իրավունքներն ու ազատությունները, և շարունակելու է այդ ուղղությամբ քայլեր ձեռնարկել։ Այս մասին լրագրողների հետ ճեպազրույցին ասել է ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղարության խոսնակ Մեթյու Միլլերը՝ պատասխանելով լրագրող Հայկարամ Նահապետյանի՝ Ադրբեջանի բանտերում պահվող հայ բանտարկյալների ճակատագրի, մասնավորապես՝ նրանց հիմնարար իրավունքների պաշտպանության գործում ԱՄՆ վարչակազմի ձեռնարկած գործողությունների մասին հարցին։
«Երբ խոսքը վերաբերում է Ադրբեջանում պահվող բանտարկյալների կարգավիճակին, առանց որևէ կոնկրետ դեպքի մասին խոսելու, Դուք տեսել եք, որ մենք հետևողականորեն կոչ ենք անում Ադրբեջանին՝ հարգելու իր երկրում գտնվող բոլոր անձանց մարդու իրավունքները և հիմնարար ազատությունները, այդ թվում՝ բանտարկյալների: Դուք տեսել եք, որ մենք քայլեր ենք ձեռնարկում, երբ տեսնում ենք, որ Ադրբեջանը չի հարգում իր երկրի ներսում բոլոր անձանց մարդու հիմնարար իրավունքները, և մենք շարունակելու ենք վարել այդ քաղաքականությունը»,-հայտարարել է Պետքարտուղարության խոսնակը։
Լրագրողը, մասնավորապես, օրինակ է բերել Ադրբեջանում անօրինաբար կալանքի տակ պահվող Ռուբեն Վարդանյանի փաստաբանի՝ Ջարեդ Գենսերին, որին Ադրբեջանը մերժում է մուտքի թույլտվություն տրամադրել, ինչն էլ անհնարին է դարձնում Վարդանյանի պաշտպանությունը և խախտում նրա հիմնարար իրավունքները։
Ինչ վերաբերում է այն հարցին, թե ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղարի՝ անցած շաբաթ Թուրքիա կատարած այցի ժամանակ արդյոք քննարկվել են Հայաստանի և Թուրքիայի միջև հարաբերությունները, ինչպես նաև Հայաստանի և Ադրբեջանի միջև ընթացող գործընթացը, Մեթյու Միլլերը՝ առանց մանրամասնելու դիվանագիտական զրույցները, ասել է, որ Հայաստանի և Թուրքիայի միջև հարաբերությունների շուրջ ԱՄՆ կանոնավոր կերպով շփվում է երկու երկրների պաշտոնյաների հետ։
