Բուլղարիայի մայրաքաղաք Սոֆիայում մեկնարկել է Դան Կոլովի և Նիկոլա Պետրովի անվան միջազգային 54-րդ մրցաշարը: «Արմենպրես»-ի հաղորդմամբ,  ՀԱՕԿ լրատվության բաժին տեղեկատվության համաձայն, մեկնարկային օրը մրցագորգ դուրս եկան Նարեկ Խաչատրյանը, Գևորգ Ղարիբյանը (59 կգ), Կարապետ Չալյանը (75 կգ) և Է դգար Խաչատրյանը (130 կգ):

1/8 եզրափակչում 59 կգ քաշային Նարեկ Խարատրյանը 0:8 հաշվով պարտվեց Վենեսուելան ներկայացնող Ռայբես Ռոդրիգեսին:

Նույն քաշային կարգի 1/8 երզափակչում Գևորգ Ղարիբյանը 8:0 հաշվով հաղթեց Ջեթայեթ Մոուատեսին (Ալժիր): Քառորդ եզրափակչում հայ ըմբիշը կրկին բացարձակ առավելությամբ հաղթանակ տոնեց, այս անգամ իրանցի Մուհամադրեզա Գերեայեի նկատմամբ: Կիսաեզրափակչում Ղարիբյանը 10:1 հաշվով հաղթեց Բուլղարիան ներկայացնող Նիկոլայ Վիչևին: Եզրափակչում հայ ըմբիշի մրցակիցը Ալեքսանդր Կոստադինովն էր, ում Ղարիբյանը զիջեց 0:6 հաշվով:

75 կգ քաշային Կարապետ Չալյանը մեկնարկեց քառորդ եզրափակչից, որտեղ 6:0 հաշվով առավելության հասավ բուլղարացի Ստիլիան Նայդենովի նկատմամբ: Կիսաեզրափակչում Չալյանը հաղթահարեց Լուիս Ավենդանոյի (Վենեսուելա) արգելքը: Եզրափակչում հայ ըմբիշը 8:0 առավելության հասավ Բուլղարիան ներկայացնող Իլիան Գեորգիևի նկատմամբ:

 Էդգար Խաչատրյանի (130 կգ) առաջին մրցակիցը Բուլղարիան ներկայացնող Լյուբոմիր Դիմիտրովն էր, ում հայ ըմբիշը պարտվեց  0:8 հաշվով:

 Հունվարի 30-ին մրցագորգ դուրս կգան Միհրան Հարությունյանը (71 կգ), Մաքսիմ Մանուկյանը և Արթուր Շահինյանը (85 կգ):
