«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է.

Դահուկային երկամարտը ձմեռային մարզաձև է, որի մասնակիցները մրցում են դահուկային ցատկում և դահուկավազքում: Այդ մարզաձևը ծագել է 19*րդ դարի վերջին Նորվեգիայում։ 1892 թվականին Հոլմենկոլենում անցկացվել է ձմեռային փառատոն, որտեղ մասնակիցները մրցել են դահուկային սպորտի երկու բնագավառում՝ դահուկավազք և դահուկային ցատկ: Նման մրցույթը պահանջում էր զգալի տոկունություն, ուստի այդ ժամանակ դրանց կարող էին մասնակցել միայն տղամարդիկ։ Ժամանակի ընթացքում այդ նորվեգական փառատոնը ձեռք է բերել միջազգային կարգավիճակ։ 20-րդ դարի սկզբին, տարածվելով սկանդինավ յան այլ երկրներում, դահուկային երկամարտը ներառվել է Հյուսիսային խաղերի ծրագրում։
 
1924 թվականին ֆրանսիական Շամանում անցկացվող մրցումների ժամանակ այդ «հյուսիսային համադրությունը»՝ դահուկային երկամարտը, դարձել է օլիմպիական ծրագրի մի մասը: 9 երկրի 30 մարզիկ է մրցել 70 մ բարձրության տրամպլինից թռիչքում և 18 կմ դահուկավազքում: Նշենք, որ այդ սպորտաձևում առաջատարը գրեթե միշտ եղել է Նորվեգիան։ Հետագա Օլիմպիական խաղերն այդ երկրին բերել են 13 ոսկե, 9 արծաթե, 8 բրոնզե մեդալ:
 
Դահուկային երկամարտի կանոնները պարբերաբար փոխվել են: Մրցույթը նախատեսված է եղել մրցանակների երկու հավաքածուի համար՝ անհատական և թիմային առաջնություններում։ Մրցույթը տեղի է ունենում երկու օրվա ընթացքում։ Ծրագիրը բաղկացած է 2 փուլից՝ առաջինը՝ 90 մետր բարձրությամբ դահուկային ցատկ, երկրորդը՝ 15 կմ դահուկավազք։ Օգտագործվում է գնահատման համակարգ՝ հաշվի առնելով ցատկի երկարությունը և որակը։ Երկրորդ փուլի մասնակցի մեկնարկի տեղը կախված է ցատկելու համար ստացված միավորների քանակից: Ավանդաբար հաղթում է այն մարզիկը, ով առաջինն է դահուկավազքում հասնում եզրագծին: Յուրաքանչյուր թիմից թիմային մրցումներին մասնակցում է 4 ներկայացուցիչ։ Եզրափակիչ փուլը 4x5 կմ փոխանցումավազք է։
 
Դահուկային երկամարտի մարզիկի համար պահանջվում են հատուկ սարքավորումներ՝ դահուկային քսուկներ, կոստյումներ, տարբեր տեսակի կապանքներ, կոշիկներ:
