Իլհամ Ալիևը հայ-ադրբեջանական սահմանին ԵՄ առաքելության մասին խոսելով նշել է, որ առանց որևէ ծանուցման, այդ երկրի հետ համաձայնության, առաքելությունը երկարաձգվել է, հրավիրվել է ԵՄ անդամ չհանդիսացող երկիր, խաթարվել է վստահությունը․ «Դե, ապա այս, ինչպես ասում են, հեռադիտակների ամոթալի ցուցադրումները, երբ հագնում են ինչ-որ զինվորական շորեր, կոշիկներ ու ինչ-որ մարտիկի նման քայլում են այնտեղ։ Ես չեմ ուզում, ինչպես ասում են, ցույց տալ, թե ինչ արագությամբ կարող են փախչել այնտեղից, եթե ինչ-որ մեկը պատահաբար փռշտա Ադրբեջանի տարածքում։ Ուստի նրանց հորդորեցինք, որ դադարեցնեն այս հեռադիտակները»։
«Չնայած վերջերս եվրոպական երկրի նախագահն իրեն թույլ է տվել նման տաղտկալի պահվածք՝ հեռադիտակով նայել Ադրբեջանին։ Ի՞նչ չտեսավ նա այստեղ՝ Բաքվում, երբ մեկ շաբաթ առաջ խնդրեց հանդիպել ինձ հետ։ Եթե պետք լիներ, կուղարկեի Ղարաբաղ, նա կնայեր սարերին։ Դու հեռադիտակով ես նայում, կարծես թշնամի լինես։ Եթե դուք այսպես եք վերաբերվում Ադրբեջանին, լավ, մե՞նք ոնց կարող ենք վերաբերվել»,-նշել է նա։
