Из-за бушующих пожаров в Лос-Анджелесе закрыты 16 школьных округов

По данным Управления образования, шестнадцать школьных округов в округе Лос-Анджелес были закрыты в четверг из-за пяти разрушительных лесных пожаров, сообщает CNN.
Закрытие коснется объединенного школьного округа Лос-Анджелеса (LAUSD), второго по величине школьного округа в стране и крупнейшего школьного округа в Калифорнии.
«Сочетание факторов — ветра, огня и дыма — создало опасные, сложные ситуации, которые создают небезопасные условия для наших школьных сообществ», - говорится в заявлении министерства образования и науки.
Отмечается также, что округ рассматривает вопрос о том, будут ли занятия в пятницу, 10 января, дистанционными. По данным школьного округа, решение будет объявлено сегодня в 16:00 по местному времени. Из 16 школьных округов, закрытых в четверг, четыре уже объявили, что они будут закрыты и в пятницу: объединенный школьный округ Бербанк, Объединенный школьный округ Глендейл, объединенный школьный округ Ла-Канада и объединенный школьный округ Пасадена. В округе Лос-Анджелес расположено 80 государственных школьных округов, которые обслуживают 1,3 миллиона учащихся начальной и старшей школы.
