Թեև Իրանի ու ԵՏՄ-ի միջև համագործակցության վերաբերյալ սկսված բանակցությունները, ըստ պաշտոնական տեղեկատվության, մոտենում են ավարտին, սակայն քաղաքագետ Ստեփան Գրիգորյանը Tert.am-ի հետ զրույցում նշեց, որ  համոզված չէ, որ դրանք կպսակվեն հաջողությամբ, քանի որ ՀՀ-ի անդամակցությունը ցույց տվեց՝ ԵՏՄ-ում մշակված մեխանիզմները չեն գործում:

«Նախ համոզված չեմ, որ Իրանն ուզում է ԵՏՄ անդամ դառնալ, խոսքն ավելի շատ ընդհանուր տնտեսական գոտու մասին է: Իսկ չհամագործակցելու պատճառները շատ են, ԵՏՄ-ի մեխանիզմները դեռ երկար տարիների ընթացքում պետք է մշակվեն, որպեսզի նաև գործեն: Իրանը, ի տարբերություն Հայաստանի, պարտադրված չէ անդամակցելու: Իրանն ունի ստրատեգիա ու իր շահերից ելնելով է որոշում` ուր մտնի ու ում հետ  համագործակցի՝ ի տարբերություն Հայաստանի»,-ասաց քաղաքագետը:

Միաժամանակ, Ստեփան Գրիգորյանը նկատեց, որ ԵՏՄ-Իրան սերտ համագործակցությունից կշահի նաև Հայաստանը:

«Այդ ժամանակ, միգուցե, Հայաստանն ու Իրանը սկսեն ավելի սերտ համագործակցել: Բոլոր պետությունները, բացառությամբ մեկի, այսօր շտապում են համագործակցել Իրանի հետ, հանդիպումներ են տեղի ունենում և այլն: Իսկ այդ մեկ երկրի անունը Հայաստանը, որը չեմ տեսնում լուրջ քայլեր անի Իրանի հետ շփումները սերտացնելու համար: Իհարկե, մենք ունենք որոշ ծրագրեր, բայց պետք է դրանք անհամեմատ ավելացնել»,-շեշտեց նա:
