Ադրբեջանը Հայաստանի նկատմամբ տարածքային պահանջներ չունի, բայց Զանգեզուրի մասին չի մոռացել և չի մոռանա. այս մասին տրանսպորտային հարցերին նվիրված հանդիպման ժամանակ հայտարարել է Ադրբեջանի նախագահ Իլհամ Ալիևը:
«Ե՛վ միջազգային մակարդակով, և՛ Հայաստանի հետ երկկողմ շփումների ընթացքում մենք անընդհատ շեշտում ենք մի խնդիր՝ պետք է ապահովել Ադրբեջանից Ադրբեջան (Նախիջևան) անարգել անցումը։ Ադրբեջանից Ադրբեջան (Նախիջևան) պետք է լինի հարմարավետ և ազատ անցում՝ առանց որևէ ստուգումների և խոչընդոտների», - ասել է նա։
Ալիևի խոսքով՝ Բաքուն տարածքային պահանջներ չունի Երևանի նկատմամբ:
Սակայն Հայաստանը «պետք» է կատարի ստանձնած պարտավորությունները՝ ապահովելով դեպի Նախիջևան անարգել անցումը: Նա հավելել է, որ Ադրբեջանը գործնական քայլեր է ձեռնարկում, այսպես կոչված, «Զանգեզուրի միջանցքը» բացելու համար։
Ալիևը նաև ասել է, որ եթե Հայաստանը ցանկանում է իրականացնել «Խաղաղության խաչմերուկ» նախագիծը, ապա առաջին հերթին պետք է դիմի Ադրբեջանին, քանի որ առանց Բաքվի դա ընդամենը «թղթի կտոր» է:
