«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է.

Բրազիլիան հարուստ ավանդույթներով զարմանալի երկիր է։ Այնուամենայնիվ, դժվար թե այդ երկիրը կարելի է կապել գարեջրի հետ: Սակայն պարզվում է, որ կա բրազիլական գարեջուր, որը հայտնի է աշխարհի գրեթե բոլոր անկյուններում և մշտապես գտնվում է գարեջրի ամենավաճառվող ապրանքանիշերի տասնյակում: Եվ ամեն ինչ սկսվել է այն քաղաքից, որի մասին Օստապ Բենդերը այդքան երազում էր՝ Ռիո դե Ժանեյրոյից: Հենց 19-րդ դարի վերջին է Ռիոյում հայտնվել այդ Brahma ապրանքանիշը։ Դա տեղի է ունեցել շվեյցարացի Ջոզեֆ Վիլինգերի շնորհիվ, որը, տեղափոխվելով Ռիո դե Ժանեյրո, արագ հասկացել է, որ Բրազիլիայում սովորական տեղական գարեջուր պարզապես չկա, և որոշել է այն ստեղծել իր ընկերների օգնությամբ: Շատ արագ Վիլինգերի գարեջրի մասին իմացել է ողջ Բրազիլիան։ Արագ հասկանալով, որ այդ ըմպելիքի արտադրությունն այդ երկրում կարող է դառնալ չափազանց շահավետ բիզնես, Վիլինգերը իր գործընկերներ Պ. Ֆրիցի և Լ. Դայի հետ հիմնադրել է Manufactura de Cerveja Brahma փոքրիկ գարեջրագործարանը: Դա տեղի է ունեցել 1888 թվականի աշնանը։ Սկզբում գարեջրի գործարանում աշխատում էր ընդամենը 32 մարդ, իսկ արտադրողականությունը կազմում էր օրական 12000 լիտր։ Ավելի քան քառասուն տարի Brahma գարեջուրը լցվում էր միայն փայտե տակառներում, և միայն 1934 թվականին է սկսվել գարեջրի շշալցումը ապակե տարաների մեջ։

Մինչ այժմ ոչ ոք չգիտի, թե ինչու է այդ շվեյցարացին բրազիլական գարեջրագործական իր ընկերությունը անվանել ի պատիվ հինդու աստծո, որին Հնդկաստանում առանձնապես չեն էլ հարգում։ Բացի այդ, ոչ ոք չգիտի, թե ինչն է դրդել Վիլինգերին վաճառել իր հաջողակ բիզնեսը 1894 թվականին։ Նոր սեփականատերն արդիականացում է իրականացրել, բացել նոր արտադրամասեր և մի քանի տարում գարեջրի արտադրությունը հասցրել տարեկան 6 միլիոն լիտրի։

Արդեն քսաներորդ դարի սկզբին Brahma ապրանքանիշը շատ գրագետ և ակտիվորեն առաջ է մղվել շուկայում: Գարեջուրը հովանավորել է բազմաթիվ բարեր և ռեստորաններ: Այսօր Brahma-ն հովանավորում է մի քանի բրազիլական ֆուտբոլային ակումբներ։

30-ականների կեսերին շշալցված գարեջրի ներդրումից հետո այն դարձել է ամենատարածված գարեջուրը Բրազիլիայում: Արտադրության ծավալներն աճել են մինչև տարեկան տպավորիչ 30 միլիոն լիտրի։ Աստիճանաբար Brahma գարեջուրը մտել է նաև միջազգային շուկա։ Առաջին երկրներն են եղել ԱՄՆ-ը և Ճապոնիան։ 1992 թվականին Brahma-ն, լրջորեն դուրս մղելով ամերիկյան և եվրոպական գարեջրերին, դարձել է Արգենտինա ներմուծվող ամենահայտնի գարեջուրը:

Բրազիլիայում գարեջրի ոլորտում երեք հիմնական արտադրողներ են մրցում միմյանց հետ՝ Brahma-ն, Scol-ը և Antarctica-ն: Այնուամենայնիվ, նրանց մրցակցությունը շատ պայմանական է, քանի որ նրանք վաղուց պատկանում են նույն ընկերությանը, և այս պահին հանդիսանում են AnheuserBusch InBev գարեջրի խոշորագույն կորպորացիայի մաս:
