American Airlines ավիաընկերության ինքնաթիռը, որում եղել է 64 մարդ, Վաշինգտոնի՝ Ռեյգանի անվան ազգային օդանավակայանի մոտ բախվել է ԱՄՆ բանակի Black Hawk ռազմական ուղղաթիռին և ընկել գետը, հաղորդում է CNN-ը՝ հղում անելով երկրի ավիացիայի և պաշտպանության պաշտոնյաներին։
Փրկարարները դեռևս ոչ մի կենդանի մնացածի դուրս չեն բերել ջրից, նշում է սկզբնաղբյուր կայքը։ Աղբյուրը մանրամասնում է, որ ինքնաթիռը կտոր-կտոր է եղել ջրի մեջ, իսկ ուղղաթիռը՝ մոտակայքում։
Ինքնաթիռը, ըստ ավիաընկերության, մեկնել էր Կանզաս նահանգի Վիչիտա քաղաքից։ Պաշտոնյաները նշում են, որ ուղղաթիռում, որը ուսումնամարզական թռիչք էր իրականացնում, գտնվել է երեք զինվոր:
Երկրի նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը Truth Social-ում հրապարակած գրառման մեջ վթարն անվանել է «վատ իրավիճակ, որը, թվում է, պետք էր կանխել»․ «Ռազմական ուղղաթիռը, սակայն, երկար ժամանակ թռչել է հենց ինքնաթիռի ուղղությամբ։ Ինքնաթիռի լույսերը վառվում էին, ինչո՞ւ ուղղաթիռը չէր բարձրանում, չէր իջնում և չէր շրջվում: Ինչո՞ւ կառավարման աշտարակը ուղղաթիռին չասաց, թե ինչ պետք է անի, փոխարենը հարցնում էր, թե տեսնո՞ւմ է ինքնաթիռին»,-նշել է Թրամփը։
