Կալիֆոռնիայի համալսարանի (Սանտա-Կրուզ) Իմեն Թանի գլխավորած աստղագետները ուսումնասիրել են FCC 224 գալակտիկան, որը գտնվում է Վառարան համաստեղության գալակտիկաների կուտակումում։ «Հաբլ» տիեզերական աստղադիտակի միջոցով կատարված դիտարկումները թույլ են տվել հայտնաբերել անսովոր գնդաձեւ աստղային կուտակման համակարգ՝ եզակի բնութագրերով։ Հետազոտության արդյունքները հրապարակվել են arXiv-ի նախնական տպագրության հարթակում։

Ինչ են գնդաձեւ կուտակումները և ինչո՞ւ են դրանք կարևոր

Գնդաձեւ աստղային կուտակումները խիտ խմբեր են, որոնք բաղկացած են գրավիտացիոն կերպով կապված աստղերից և պտտվում են գալակտիկաների շուրջ։ Դրանք կարևոր դեր են խաղում աստղերի և գալակտիկաների էվոլյուցիայի ուսումնասիրության մեջ, քանի որ ձևավորվում են աստղակազմության ինտենսիվ պոռթկումների ժամանակ։

FCC 224 գալակտիկան համեմատաբար փոքր զանգված ունի՝ մոտ 200 միլիոն արեգակնային զանգված, և կոմպակտ չափեր (տրամագիծ՝ 6 160 լուսատարի)։ Սակայն գիտնականները այնտեղ հայտնաբերել են 12 չափազանց պայծառ գնդաձեւ կուտակումներ, ինչը զարմանալի է նման փոքր զանգված ունեցող գալակտիկայի համար։

Կուտակումների անոմալ հատկությունները

Այս կուտակումների բնույթը հասկանալու համար հետազոտողները կիրառել են՝

  • Wide Field Camera 3 («Հաբլ»)՝ գալակտիկայի կառուցվածքը մանրամասն ուսումնասիրելու համար։
  • Keck Cosmic Web Imager սպեկտրոգրաֆը՝ կուտակումների քիմիական բաղադրությունն ու հատկությունները վերլուծելու համար։

Ստացված տվյալները ցույց են տվել՝

  • Գնդաձեւ կուտակումների ընդհանուր զանգվածը կազմում է 3.8 միլիոն արեգակնային զանգված, ինչը համարժեք է ողջ գալակտիկայի զանգվածի 2%-ին. սա շատ ավելին է, քան կանխատեսվում էր։
  • Կուտակումների աստղերի գույնը գրեթե ամբողջությամբ համընկնում է գալակտիկայի մնացած աստղերի գույնի հետ։
  • Աստղային կուտակումների գույնի տատանումները նվազագույն են, ինչը նշանակում է, որ դրանք բոլորը ձևավորվել են կարճատև, սակայն հզոր աստղակազմության փուլում։
  • Ավելի զանգվածային կուտակումները կենտրոնացած են գալակտիկայի կենտրոնում, մինչդեռ ավելի փոքր զանգված ունեցողները տեղակայված են պերիֆերիայում։

Ինչո՞ւ է սա կարևոր գիտության համար?

Գիտնականները դեռևս չեն կարողանում բացատրել, թե ինչպես են այսպիսի զանգվածային և պայծառ աստղային կուտակումներ ձևավորվել այդքան փոքր գալակտիկայում։

Հնարավոր բացատրություններից մեկը՝ գրավիտացիոն փոխազդեցություններ այլ գալակտիկաների հետ, որոնք անցյալում կարող էին խթանել արագացված աստղակազմություն։ Սակայն հստակ պատասխաններ դեռ չկան։

Գլխավոր հարցն այն է՝ ինչու՞ այս կուտակումները դեռևս պահպանվել են և չեն ցրվել միլիարդավոր տարիների ընթացքում:

Հետազոտության հեղինակները նշում են, որ այս երևույթների բացատրության համար անհրաժեշտ են հետագա տեսական ուսումնասիրություններ և նոր աստղագիտական դիտարկումներ։
