Փետրվարի 1-ին, ժամը 16։20-ին Ոստիկանության օպերատիվ կառավարման կենտրոն ստացվել է ահազանգ, որ մայրաքաղաքի Թամրուչի փողոցում երկու մեքենաների ուղևորներ մահակներով հարվածում են միմյանց։ Նշվել է նաև, որ ավտոմեքենաներից մեկի դիմապակին կոտրած է:
Մեկնած օպերատիվ խումբը պարզել է, որ նշված հասցեում անհայտ անձանց կողմից տեղի է ունեցել վիճաբանություն, որը վերածվել է ծեծկռտուքի:
Ժամեր անց հիվանդանոցից ստացվել է հաղորդում, որ «կրծքավանդակի կտրած-ծակած վերք» ախտորոշմամբ բուժօգնության է դիմել 23-ամյա մի երիտասարդ։
Երևանի քրեական ոստիկանների ձեռնարկած միջոցառումների շնորհիվ պարզվել է, որ նա մարմնական վնասվածքը ստացել է հիշյալ ծեծկռտուքի ժամանակ: Այնուհետև, Ավանի համայքային ոստիկանների հետ համատեղ օպերատիվ-հետախուզական միջոցառումներով պարզվել է, որ փետրվարի 1-ին Ավանի Սայաթ-Նովա թաղամասի բակերից մեկում 17-ամյա երկու ընկեր վիճաբանել է երկու երիտասարդի հետ, ապա հեռացել են՝ ավելի ուշ հանդիպելու նպատակով։
Ժամեր անց երիտասարդները իրենց երկու ընկերների հետ վերադարձել են «Ֆոլքսվագեն Գոլֆ» մեքենայով, կրկին վիճաբանել։ Այնուհետև «Ֆոլքսվագեն Գոլֆ» և «Օպել Աստրա» մակնիշի մեքենաներով կողմերն ուղևորվել են Թամրուչի փողոց: Մեքենաները կայանելով ճանապարհի երթևեկելի գոտում` երիտասարդները մահակներով հարվածներ են հասցրել միմյանց, նաև վնասել «Օպել Աստրան» ու կոտրել մեքենայի հողմապակին։
Այս ընթացքում էլ 17-ամյա տղաներից մեկն իր մոտ եղած դանակով երեք անգամ հարվածել է 23-ամյա երիտասարդին:
