Միացյալ Նահանգները նպատակ է հետապնդում Իրանին դրդել կապիտուլյացիայի՝ Թեհրանի հետ նոր գործարք կնքելու միջոցով, սակայն Թեհրանը մտադիր չէ բանակցություններ վարել ճնշման ներքո. այս մասին, ՏԱՍՍ-ի փոխանցմամբ, հայտարարել է Իսլամական Հանրապետության արտաքին գործերի նախարարության ղեկավար Աբբաս Արաղչին։

«ԱՄՆ նախագահը վերադարձել է Իրանի ժողովրդի նկատմամբ առավելագույն ճնշման քաղաքականությանը: Ամենահետաքրքիրն այն է, որ Իրանի վրա աննախադեպ ճնշում գործադրելու մասին հրամանագրի ստորագրմանը զուգահեռ նա հայտարարություններ է արել բանակցությունների պատրաստակամության մասին,.  նրա նպատակը մեզ մոլորեցնելն է։ Ինչո՞ւ պետք է ԱՄՆ-ի հետ բանակցություններ վարենք ճնշման տակ. Սա տրամաբանակա՞ն է: Ո՞ր խելամիտ մարդը կհամաձայնի բանակցային գործընթացի մեջ մտնել ճնշման տակ և լսելով սպառնալիքները։ Նրանց նպատակն այս բանակցություններում կապիտուլյացիան է։ Իրանը երբեք չի հանձնվի»,- նախարարի խոսքերն է մեջբերում նրա մամուլի ծառայությունը։

Արաղչին ելույթ է ունեցել Թեհրանում Իսլամական հեղափոխության հաղթանակի 46-րդ տարեդարձին նվիրված տոնական միջոցառմանը։

Փետրվարի 4-ին Թրամփը գործադիր հրաման է ստորագրել Իրանի վրա ԱՄՆ-ի առավելագույն ճնշումը վերականգնելու մասին։ Փաստաթուղթը նախատեսում է ակտիվացնել իրանական նավթի արտահանման կրճատմանն ուղղված ջանքերը։ Միևնույն ժամանակ, ԱՄՆ առաջնորդը չի բացառել Իսլամական Հանրապետության նախագահ Մասուդ Փեզեշքիանի հետ հանդիպումը և հայտարարել է Թեհրանի հետ «գերազանց գործարք» կնքելու ցանկության մասին։

Փետրվարի 7-ին Իրանի գերագույն առաջնորդ այաթոլլա Ալի Խամենեին հայտարարել էր, որ անհնար է բանակցել ԱՄՆ-ի հետ, քանի որ նրանք արդեն մեկ անգամ խաբել են Իրանին։ Նա հիշեցրել է, որ Վաշինգտոնը Թեհրանի հետ միջուկային համաձայնագիր է կնքել 2015 թվականին, սակայն չի կատարել գործարքի պայմանները, իսկ 2018 թվականին՝ Թրամփի օրոք, միակողմանիորեն դուրս է եկել գործարքից:
