Թրամփի գործադիր իշխանության սանձարձակ օգտագործումը՝ օրենքով ամրագրված գործակալություններին խեղդելու, աշխատակազմը հեռացնելու և Կոնգրեսի կողմից արդեն հաստատված ծախսերը դադարեցնելու համար, ահազանգում է, որ նա բացահայտորեն հակասում է Սահմանադրությանը՝ զավթելով իշխանությունը, որը չունի նախագահությունը:
Բայց Մասկի դերն իր չընտրված ուժով աննախադեպ է։ Աշխարհի ամենահարուստ մարդը աշխատանքից ազատում է պետական պաշտոնյաներին, ոչնչացնում է ԱՄՆ-ի փափուկ գլոբալ ուժը և հասանելիություն է ստանում պոտենցիալ միլիոնավոր ամերիկացիների տվյալներին և անձնական տեղեկատվությանը՝ բոլորն առանց հաշվետվության: Մի քանի դատարաններ արդեն միջամտել են՝ ժամանակավորապես դադարեցնելու Թրամփի և Մասկի ծրագրերը։ Բայց այս ամենը գնում է դեպի նորագույն պատմության մեջ նախագահական իշխանության շրջանակի ամենակարևոր բախումներից մեկը, որը հակառակվելու է Գերագույն դատարանի դեմ, որի պահպանողական մեծամասնությունը գործադիր իշխանության նկատմամբ ընդլայնված տեսակետ ունի:
Շատերը կանխատեսում էին, որ Մասկն ու Թրամփը գնում են բաժանման՝ հաշվի առնելով նրանց անկայուն բնավորություն, բայց Թրամփը հոգնածության որևէ նշան ցույց չի տալիս Մասկին, ով ծառայում է որպես նախագահի վրեժխնդրության և դիվերսիոն ծրագրի առաջատար գործակալ:
