Իրանի նախագահ Մասուդ Փեզեշքիանը քննադատել է իր ամերիկացի գործընկեր Դոնալդ Թրամփին, որը «բռնակալական պայմաններ է առաջադրում՝ Իրանին ծնկի բերելու համար»: Նա հայտարարել է նաև, որ եթե Թրամփն անկեղծ ձգտեր երկխոսության՝ «ժողովրդի դեմ» պատժամիջոցներ չէր սահմանի, հայտնել է իրանական Tasnim գործակալությունը։
Հինգշաբթի հարավային նավահանգստային Բուշեր քաղաք կատարած այցի ժամանակ Փեզեշքիանը դատապարտել է Իրանի հասցեին ԱՄՆ նախագահի սպառնալիքները։
Նախագահը հայտարարել է, որ Իրանը չի բացառում բանակցությունները կամ երկխոսությունը, սակայն բանակցություններն անիմաստ կլինեն, եթե ԱՄՆ նախագահ Դոնալդ Թրամփը նախքան երկխոսությանն իր աջակցությունը հայտնելը փորձի Իրանի պայմաններ առաջադրել և պատժամիջոցներ սահմանել նրա դեմ։
ԱՄՆ վարչակազմը ձգտում է ոչ թե բանակցությունների, այլ Իրանին հնազանդեցնելու, հայտարարել է Փեզեշքիանը՝ հավելելով, որ դա երբեք տեղի չի ունենա։ Նա ընդգծել է, որ թշնամիները չեն կարողանա խոչընդոտել Իրանի առաջընթացին։ «ԱՄՆ պատժամիջոցները չեն կարող կաթվածահար անել Իրանին, թեև Իսլամական Հանրապետությունը մտադիր չէ պատժամիջոցների ենթարկվել»,- շեշտել է երկրի նախագահը։
Նա ընդգծել է, որ Իրանը հանդես է գալիս բոլոր երկրների հետ խաղաղության և բարեկամության օգտին և փորձում է ջերմ հարաբերություններ պահպանել իր հարևանների հետ։
ԱՄՆ նախագահը ավելի վաղ հայտարարել էր, որ կնախընտրեր Իրանի հետ միջուկային համաձայնագիր կնքել, քան «դժոխային ռմբակոծությունների ենթարկել նրան»:
