Հանրապետության նախագահ Վահագն Խաչատուրյանը Մոնտեվիդեոյում հանդիպել է Ուրուգվայի նախագահ Ժամանդու Օրսիի հետ:
Ողջունելով նորընտիր նախագահին Հայաստանի նախագահը շնորհակալություն է հայտնել հրավերի համար, ինչին ի պատասխան Ուրուգվայի նախագահն իր խոսքում շնորհակալություն է հայտնել Վահագն Խաչատուրյանին երդմնակալության արարողությանը մասնակցելու համար և նշել, որ այցը նոր խթան կհանդիսանա երկու երկրների բարեկամության ամրապնդման համար:
Հանդիպման ընթացքում նախագահները շեշտել են, որ Հայաստանն ու Ուրուգվայը միշտ ունեցել են բարեկամական հարաբերություններ, որոնք ունեն ընդլայնվելու մեծ ներուժ տարբեր ուղղություններով:
Վահագն Խաչատուրյանն առանձնահատուկ նշել է, որ երդմնակալության արարողությունն իր բնույթով ժողովրդավարության և ժողովրդավարական ինստիտուտների կայացման լավագույն դրսևորումներից է:
Զրույցի ընթացքում շեշտվել է դեսպանությունների բացման կարևորությունը երկրների համագործակցության հետագա ամրապնդման գործում։ Անդրադարձ է կատարվել նաև փոխադարձ հետաքրքրություն ներկայացնող ոլորտներում փոխգործակցության խթանմանը՝ տնտեսական, բարձր տեխնոլոգիաների և այլ բնագավառներում:
