Երևանի բուսաբանական այգում հատվել են մոտ 30 հատ կենսունակ կաղնու ծառ (ըստ ականատեսների պատմածի վերջին մի քանի ամիսներին)։Այս մասին գրում է օգտատեր Էդուարդ Հայրումյանը:
«Եթե ինչ որ մեկը կասի, որ այդ ծառերը չորացած էին, կասեք որ «ՍՏՈՒՄ Է», քանի որ՝
- Բոլոր հատված ծառերի կողքերում կար թափված մեծ քանակի թարմ կաղին և կաղնու տերևներ՝ ինչը փաստում է, որ ծառերը չորացած չէին։
- Բոլոր հատված ծառերի բների կողքից կան նոր ծլած կանաչ շիվեր։
- Տարածքում կային իրոք չորացած այլ ծառեր (ոչ կաղնի) որոնք հատված չէին, փոխարենը հատված էին միայն կաղնու ծառեր։
- Կաղնու ծառի փայտանյութն այսօր շուկայում ամենաարժեքավորն է (դուբից պառկետը վկա) ու հատված մեկ ծառի փայտանյութի շուկայական արժեքը կարող հասնել մի քանի միլիոն դրամի։
- Google-ի արբանյակային լուսանկարներում պարզ երևում է, որ այդ հատվածում բոլոր ծառերը կանաչ էին ։
