Աշխարհի ամենաարտառոց օդանավակայաններից մեկը՝ աշխարհի ամենահյուսիսային քաղաքացիական օդանավակայանը՝ Նորվեգիայի Սվալբարդ օդանավակայանին անհետացման վտանգ է սպառնում։ Օդանավակայանը տեղակայված է նորվեգական Շպիցբերգեն (Սվալբարդ) արշիպելագի Լոնգյիր (Longyearbyen) գյուղի մերձակա մշտական ​​սառույցի հաստ շերտի վրա։

Երբ 1970-ականների սկզբին Լոնգյիրում կառուցվեց 2300 մետր երկարությամբ թռիչքուղին, ոչ ոք չէր սպասում, որ տակի ամուր հիմքը կսկսի հալվել:

Չնայած Սվալբարդն ավանդաբար իրեն ապահովում էր էլեկտրաէներգիա ածխով աշխատող էլեկտրակայաններից, կղզին աստիճանաբար հրաժարվում է այս երկարամյա ավանդույթից: 2020 թվականին փակվել է կղզու ամենամեծ հանքերից մեկը՝ «Սվեագրուվա»-ն։

2023 թվականին փակվել է նաև Լոնգյերբիենում գտնվող ածխով աշխատող էլեկտրակայանը, որը փոխարինվել է դիզելային էլեկտրակայանով, ինչը գրեթե կիսով չափ կրճատել է ածխաթթու գազի արտանետումները։
