Մհեր Ավետիսյանը ֆեյսբուքյան իր էջում գրել է․
Այսօր մեր ժողովրդի մեծագույն բարեկամներից և հերոսներից մեկի՝ Իվան Պասկևիչ-Էրևանսկու ծննդյան օրն է։

Իմ համախոհների և ընկերների հետ ծաղիկներ խոնարհեցինք Երևանի Պասկևիչի կիսանդրու մոտ։ Այս խոշորագույն ռազմական գործչի գլխավորած ռուսական բանակը 1827 թվականին ազատագրեց Երևանի բերդը՝ հայ ժողովրդին հնարավորություն տալով ազատվել երկար դարերի օտար լծից, վերադառնալ սեփական բնօրրան և հետագայում վերականգնել պետականությունը։
Իվան Պասկևիչը համաշխարհային ռազմական պատմության մեջ եզակի դիրք ունի. նա Ռուսական կայսրության չորս գեներալներից մեկն է, որ արժանացել է Սբ. Գեորգիի 4 շքանշանի։ Նրա բացառիկ վարպետությունն արտահայտվեց նաև Վիեննայի պաշտպանության ժամանակ, երբ Նիկոլայ I-ը նրան ուղարկեց հունգարական ապստամբությունը ճնշելու։ Այդ հաղթանակից հետո կայսրը, ցանկանալով նոր պարգև շնորհել, հասկացավ, որ հասանելի շքանշաններն արդեն տրված են։ Որպեսզի ընդգծի Պասկևիչի վաստակը, նա հրաման արձակեց. պետական միջոցառումների ժամանակ գեներալին վերաբերվել ինչպես կայսեր անձնական ներկայացուցչին։
Պասկևիչի պատմական դերը հավերժացված է Սանկտ Պետերբուրգի Էրմիտաժի "Հատուկ գեներալների սրահում", որտեղ նրա դիմանկարի տակ գրված է ոչ միայն «Իվան Պասկևիչ», այլև՝ «Իվան Պասկևիչ-Էրևանսկի»։ Այս մակագրությունը խորհրդանշում է Երևանի ազատագրման համար նրա կատարած ծառայությունները։
Իր կյանքի վերջին տարիներին գեներալը ցուցաբերեց ազնվության հազվագյուտ օրինակ. բանկում գրավադրելով իր բոլոր մեդալները, թանկարժեք քարերն ու ոսկիները, ստացված գումարը կտակեց վիրավոր զինվորներին։ Այս գործողությունը հաստատում է, որ մեծ մարդիկ ոչ միայն հերոսություններ են գործում պատերազմի դաշտում, այլև մարդկային արժանապատվությամբ են ապրում։
Այսօր մեր պարտքն է հիշել ու հպարտանալ այնպիսի դեմքերով, որոնք իրենց կյանքը նվիրաբերեցին հայ ժողովրդի ազատագրությանը, և փոխանցել այս ավանդույթը նոր սերնդին։
