Բանանը վտանգի տակ է, քանի որ այն տարածքների երկու երրորդը, որտեղ այն աճեցվում է Լատինական Ամերիկայում և Կարիբյան ավազանի երկրներում, մինչև 2080 թվականը դրա համար ոչ պիտանի կդառնա, գրում է The Guardian-ը՝ հղում անելով Christian Aid միջազգային մարդասիրական կազմակերպության հետազոտությանը։

Բանանն  աշխարհում ամենաշատ սպառվող միրգն է և աշխարհում չորրորդ ամենակարևոր պարենային մշակաբույսը՝ ցորենից, բրնձից և եգիպտացորենից հետո։ Ավելի քան 400 միլիոն մարդ իր օրական կալորիաների 15%-ից մինչև 27%-ը ստանում է այս միրգն օգտագործելով, գրում է Российская газета-ն։ Միևնույն ժամանակ, ամբողջ աշխարհի սուպերմարկետներ մատակարարվող բանանի արտահանման 80%-ը բաժին է ընկնում Լատինական Ամերիկային և Կարիբյան ավազանի երկրներին։ Հենց այս տարածաշրջաններն են ամենախոցելին էքստրեմալ եղանակային պայմանների և կլիմայական աղետների նկատմամբ։

Բանանը, հատկապես դրա ամենատարածված Կավենդիշ տեսակը, զգայուն պտուղ է։ Դրա աճի համար պահանջվում է 15°C-ից մինչև 35°C ջերմաստիճան և բավարար քանակությամբ ջուր, բայց ոչ շատ։ Այն զգայուն էփոթորիկների նկատմամբ, որոնց պատճառով բանանի բույսը կարող է տերևաթափ լինել, ինչը զգալիորեն կդժվարացնի ֆոտոսինթեզը։

Կլիմայական ճգնաժամն ուղղակիորեն ազդում է աճեցման պայմանների վրա և նպաստում է սնկային հիվանդությունների տարածմանը, որոնք արդեն ոչնչացնում են բերքը, պնդում են հետազոտության հեղինակները։
