Այսօր լրանում է Հայաստանի Հանրապետության հռչակման 107 տարեդարձը։ Մեր հանրապետությունը ստեղծվել է անօրինակ ծանր աշխարհաքաղաքական պայմաններում, Հայոց Ցեղասպանությունից և մեր տարածաշրջանից ռուսական կայսերական բանակների հապշտապ հեռացումից հետո։ Օգտվելով առաջացած հնարավորությունից, տառացիորեն երեք ամսում օսմանյան բանակը գրավեց ողջ Արևմտյան Հայաստանը, ներխուժեց Շիրակ և Լոռի, և մոտեցավ Արարատյան դաշտին՝ հայության վերջին կենսական հանգրվանին։

107 տարի առաջ, այս ծանրագույն իրավիճակում, չունենալով պետություն և պետական կայուն ինստիտուտներ, համատարած խուճապի և բարոյալքության պայմաններում, հայ ժողովրդի լավագույն զավակները, ժողովելով իրենց վերջին ուժերը, մեկ շաբաթից ավել հերոսական կռիվ տալով երեք ճակատներով և օսմանյան բանակին հսկայական կորուստներ պատճառելով՝ խափանեցին Արևելյան Հայաստանը գրավելու և հայության բնաջնջումը ավարտին հասցնելու թուրքական պլանները։

Այդ օրերին հայ ժողովրդի ողջ մարտական ընտրանին կռվի մեջ էր՝ Մովսես Սիլիկյանը, Դանիել Բեկ-Փիրումյանը, Քրիստափոր Արարատյանը՝ Սարդարապատում, Դրաստանատ Կանայանը, Սեդրակ Ջալալյանը և Ջհանգիր աղան՝ Բաշ-Ապարանում, Գարեգին Նժդեհը և Գուրգեն Տեր-Մովսեսյանը՝ Ղարաքիլիսայում, դիմադրության ոգին էին Արամ Մանուկյանը Երևանում և Գևորգ 5-րդ կաթողիկոսը Էջմիածնում։ Կանոնավոր բանակի ստորաբաժանումների կողքին կռվում էին Արևմտյան Հայաստանի և Արցախի կամավորական գնդերը, տեղի հայ աշխարհազորայինները, եզդիական հեծյալ զորախմբերը՝ սա համաժողովրդական կռիվ էր, կենաց ու մահու պայքար, ընտրություն գոյության և բնաջնջման միջև։

Այս ճակատագրական օրերի լավագույն նկարագրությունը տվել է թշնամին։ Օսմանյան Կովկասյան բանակի ընդհանուր հրամանատար Վեհիբ փաշան, Ղարաքիլիսայում ծանր կորուստներ կրելուց հետո, հայտարարեց, որ «Ղարաքիլիսայի տակ հայերը ցույց տվեցին, որ կարող են լինել աշխարհի լավագույն զինվորները», և որ հայերի հետ անհրաժեշտ է հաշտություն կնքել։

Այսօր էլ, 107 տարի անց, մայիսյան հերոսամարտի խորհուրդը ավելի քան արդիական է՝

• մեր երկրի հողը հերոսների վճռականությամբ, սխրանքով և արյունով է պահվում, ամենազորեղ թշնամին էլ ընկրկում է այդ վճռականության առաջ

• ճշմարիտ հերոսները նրանք են, որոնք մեծագործում են և զոհվում իրենց վտանգված հայրենիքը պաշտպանելու ժամանակ,

• մենք արժանի չենք լինի մեր հայրենիքին, եթե չենք դավանում այն իբրև մեր գերագույն նպատակ, իսկ մեր անձը՝ իբրև միջոց:

Այսօր փառք տալով մեր հերոսներին և խոնարհվելով նրանց անմահ սխրագործության առաջ, մենք պետք է հանձն առնենք՝ շարունակել նրանց գործը, միասին պաշտպանել ու շենացնել մեր հայրենիքի այն հատվածը, որը պահվել է նրանց սխրանքով և արյամբ, և երբեք չհրաժարվենլ մեր հայրենքի միասնությունն ու փառքը վերականգնելու նվիրական տեսլականից։ Փա՛ռք մեր հերոսներին, կեցցե՛ Հայաստանի Հանրապետությունը։
