Տեխասում ռևմատոլոգը դատապարտվել է 10 տարվա ազատազրկման՝ առողջապահական խարդախության վերաբերյալ գործի շրջանակում: Նա հարյուրավոր առողջ մարդկանց մոտ ախտորոշել է քրոնիկական հիվանդություններ, որպեսզի նրանց նշանակվեն թանկարժեք և վտանգավոր բուժումներ։ Այս մասին հայտնում է odditycentral.com-ը:
Տեխասի Միշն քաղաքից Խորխե Սամորա Կեսադան մեղավոր է ճանաչվել խարդախության և դավադրության համար։ Տարիներ շարունակ 68-ամյա ռևմատոլոգը կեղծ ախտորոշումներ էր դնում քրոնիկական հիվանդությունների վերաբերյալ՝ նպատակ ունենալով գումարներ ստանալ այնպիսի թեստերի և բուժումների համար, որոնց կարիքը հիվանդները փաստացի չունեին։ Դատախազության ներկայացրած ապացույցները ցույց են տվել, որ նրա խարդախության սխեման ներառել է ավելի քան 118 միլիոն դոլարի կեղծ պահանջներ, որոնց արդյունքում ապահովագրական ընկերությունները վճարել են ավելի քան 28 միլիոն դոլար՝ հնարավորություն տալով նրան ապրել աներևակայելի շքեղ կյանքով։ Սամորա Կեսադան, շահարկելով ոչինչ չկասկածող բուժառուների վիճակը, կարողացել է կուտակել զգալի կարողություն, ներառյալ՝ 13 անշարժ գույք, ինքնաթիռ և Maserati GranTurismo ավտոմեքենա։
«Դոկտոր Սամորա-Կեսադան երկու տասնամյակ շարունակ ֆինանսավորել է իր շքեղ կյանքը՝ տրավմայի ենթրակելով հիվանդներին, ճնշելով աշխատակիցներին, ստելով ապահովագրական ընկերություններին և գողանալով հարկատուների գումարները», – ասել է Արդարադատության նախարարության քրեական բաժնի ղեկավար Մեթյու Գալեոտին:
Դատավարության ընթացքում այլ ռևմատոլոգներ Տեխասից վկայել են, որ հարյուրավոր հիվանդներ եկել են իրենց մոտ՝ նախորդաբար Սամորա Կեսադայի կողմից ախտորոշված ռևմատոիդ արթրիտով։ Սակայն պարզվել է՝ ոչ մեկը այդ հիվանդությունը չուներ, բայց բոլորին էլ նշանակվել էին հզոր դեղամիջոցներ և բուժումներ՝ ծանր և նույնիսկ մահացու կողմնակի ազդեցություններով։ Որոշ հիվանդներ ստացել են կաթված, ունեցել են ծնոտի նեկրոզ, մազաթափություն, լյարդի վնասվածքներ և անտանելի ցավեր:
Բացի այն, որ բժշկի նշանակումները միտումնավոր հաշմանդամություն էին առաջացնում առողջ մարդկանց մոտ, Սամորա Կեսադան ենթադրաբար նաև սպառնացել և շանտաժի է ենթարկել աշխատակիցներին՝ նրանց ստիպելով հետևել իր հրամաններին։ Նա հիմնականում աշխատանքի էր ընդունում J-1 վիզայով մարդկանց, որպեսզի սպառնա նրանց աշխատանքից ազատել և վտանգել նրանց միգրացիոն կարգավիճակը։ Նրանց, ովքեր չէին ենթարկվում, նա ազատում էր աշխատանքից, իսկ նրանց, ովքեր չէին ապահովում անհրաժեշտ քանակի ավելորդ բուժումներ առողջ հիվանդների համար՝ նա նվաստացնում էր։
