Ագիտացիայից և պրոպագանդայից խուսափելը գրեթե անհնար է

Հասարակական-քաղաքական գործընթացներում հաճախ ստեղծվում են իրավիճակներ, երբ քաղաքացիները, անկած իրենց կամքից, դառնում են պրոպագանդայի «զոհ»: Որպես օրինակ կարելի է նշել քաղաքական ընտրությունները, համապետական այլ միջոցառումները:
«Պրոպագանդա» (լատ. propagare՝ ընդարձակել, տարածել բառից) հասկացությունը ծագել է եկեղեցական համատեքստում՝ ունենալով դարձի բերելու, առաքելականության (միսիոներականության) իմաստ։ Առաջին հայտնի կիրառությունը եղել է 1718 թվականին, այն առնչվում է կաթոլիկ եկեղեցու կողմից 1620-ական թթ. սկզբին հիմնված՝ օտարերկրյա միսիոներականությունը վերահսկող «Հավատքի պրոպագանդման ժողովի» անվանման հետ։
Հայերենում «պրոպագանդայի» փոխարեն հաճախ կիրառվում է «քարոզ» (քարոզչություն) բառը։ Այն փոխառվել է ասորերեն karoza՝ մունետիկ, սուրհանդակ բառից և ժամանակի ընթացքում ձեռք է բերել «սարկավագի կարդացած աղոթք» իմաստը։ Ժամանակակից հայերենում «քարոզի» և «պրոպագանդայի» միջև համանիշային կապի է առաջացել, իսկ արդեն 20-րդ դարասկզբին քարոզելը լիարժեքորեն գործածվում է քաղաքական գաղափարներ տարածելու իմաստով:
«Ագիտացիա» հասկացությամբ էլ ավելի է ընդգծվում սեփական քաղաքական նպատակներից ելնելով այլոց գործողությունների մղելու կողմը (լատիներեն agitatio՝ վարել, շարժման մեջ դնել բառից): Այն բացատրվում է որպես մասսաների գիտակցության ու տրամադրության վրա ներգործող, որոշակի գաղափարների ու կոչերի միջոցով նրանց հասարակական, քաղաքական կարևոր խնդիրների լուծմանը մասնակից դարձնող քաղաքական գործունեություն։
Պրոպագանդայի համեմատությամբ ագիտացիայի առանձնահատկությունը մասսայականությունն է, ավելի մասնավոր ու կոնկրետ գաղափարների, գիտելիքների տարածումը։ Ըստ էության, լինելով պրոպագանդայի գործադրման ձև՝ ագիտացիան քաղաքական բառապաշարում հաճախ կիրառվում է դրա հետ նույնացած կերպով:
Արդյունքում ժամանակակից «քարոզչությունը» քաղաքական լեզվում հաճախ ներառում է և՛ «պրոպագանդան», և՛ «ագիտացիան»՝ թույլ չտալով դիտարկել դրանց տարբերությունը։ Հետևաբար, տեսաբանական տեքստերում, որտեղ նշանակալի են տերմինների առանձին կողմերը, անհրաժեշտ է նախապես սահմանել կամ ճշգրտել հասկացությունների իմաստները։
«Պրոպագանդա» հասկացությունը արևմտյան համատեքստում ստացավ բացասական իմաստավորում 20-րդ դարի համաշխարհային պատերազմների, բոլշևիզմի, ֆաշիզմի և ստալինիզմի փորձառությունից հետո, երբ ինտենսիվորեն ուսումնասիրվում, մշակվում և գործադրվում էին զանգվածային պրոպագանդայի ամենակոպիտ մեթոդները, որոնք արդի արևմտյան մշակույթի շրջանակում ունեցան ողբերգական հետևանքներ։
