Առաջին ու Երկրորդ համաշխարհային պատերազմների միջև ընկած համեմատաբար խաղաղ ժամանակահատվածում Ժակ Բիդերերը իր նշաձողը գտավ ստուդիական լուսանկարների ոլորտում ու քիչ հաջողություններ չունեցավ: Իհարկե, պարծենալ, որ էրոտիկա ալս լուսանկարում, ընդունված չէ, այն էլ այն այդ տարիներին, սակայն մյուս կողմից՝ եթե այն նկարահանված է բավական գեղարվեստորեն ու հոգով, ինչո՞ւ ոչ:
Ժակ Բիդերերը իր կարիերան սկսեց Փարիզ տեղափոխվելուց հետո, որտեղ եղբոր հետ բացեց կինոստուդիա: Սկսելով սովորական լուսանկարներից՝ Ժակը կենտրոնացավ թեթև էրոտիկայի վրա: Դրանք այդ ժամանակվա համար դասական համարվող «թեթևակի մերկացած» կանայք էին նման թեմայի համար ստանդարտ դիրքերով: Ավելի ուշ նրա լուսանկարները դարձավ ավելի գեղարվեստական, ոչ ստանդարտ, հումորով:
Հետագայում նա դադարեց լուսանկարների վրա գրել իր անունը, սակայն դրանից շատերը ճանաչելի էին դառնում հերոսների կրկնվող դիրքերից, դեկորացիաներից ու թեմատիկայից:
1930-1940-ականներին Բիդերեր եղբայրների գործերը բավական լավ էին, սակայն Ֆրանսիա ներխուժեցին նացիստները ու հրեա եղբայրներին ուղարկեցին Օսվենցիմ, որտեղից նրանք այլևս դուրս չեկան: Ավելի ուշ նրանց պատմության հիման վրա մի քանի գիրք գրվեց, թողարկվեցին լուսանկարների հավաքածուներ:
Այդ տարիներին, ցանկացած, անգամ թեթևակի մերկ կանանց լուսանկարները օրենքով խստորեն արգելվում էին:
