Առնվազն 13 մարդ, ենթադրաբար, ինքնասպան է եղել Մեծ Բրիտանիայի փոստային բաժանմունքում տեղի ունեցած սկանդալի հետևանքով, որի արդյունքում համակարգչային համակարգի խափանման պատճառով ապօրինաբար հետապնդվել կամ դատապարտվել են քրեական հանցագործությունների համար, ըստ Associated Press գործակալության՝ ասված է երեքշաբթի հրապարակված զեկույցում։

Եվս 59 մարդ Մեծ Բրիտանիայի պատմության մեջ խոշորագույն դատավարական սխալներից մեկից բխող սկանդալի պատճառով մտածել է ինքնասպանության մասին։ Մոտավորապես 1999-2015 թվականներին փոստային բաժանմունքներում աշխատող հարյուրավոր մարդիկ անօրինական կերպով դատապարտվել են գողության, խարդախության և կեղծ հաշվետվությունների համար՝ հիմնվելով թերի տեղեկատվական համակարգի միջոցով ստացված ապացույցների վրա։

Անարդարացիորեն դատապարտվածներից ոմանք բանտարկվել են կամ ստիպված են եղել հայտարարել սնանկության մասին։ Մյուսները կորցրել են իրենց տները, առողջական խնդիրներ ունեցել, խաթարել իրենց հարաբերությունները կամ մեկուսացվել հասարակությունից։

Սկանդալի հանրային հետաքննությունը գլխավորող թոշակառու դատավոր Ուին Ուիլյամսը երեքշաբթի հրապարակված զեկույցում հայտարարել է, որ 13 մարդ ինքնասպան է եղել փոստային բաժանմունքի հաշվապահական համակարգի անսարքության պատճառով, որն, ըստ նրանց ընտանիքների, մասնաճյուղերի հաշիվներում թվացյալ պակասորդներ է ցույց տվել։

Պետական ​​​​սեփականություն, բայց մասնավոր բիզնես հանդիսացող փոստային բաժանմունքում առկա խնդիրները հայտնի են տարիներ շարունակ։

Սակայն անարդարության ամբողջ ծավալը լույս սփռեց միայն անցյալ տարի, երբ սկանդալի մասին հեռուստատեսային վավերագրական դրաման գրավեց ամբողջ երկրի մամուլի գլխագրերը, իսկ  տուժածների հանդեպ հանրային աջակցություն ի հայտ եկավ։

Պատճառը ճապոնական Fujitsu ընկերության Horizon ծրագիրն էր, որը փոստը ներդրել էր իր մասնաճյուղերում 25 տարի առաջ՝ վաճառքի հաշվառումը ավտոմատացնելու համար։ Երբ ծրագիրը հայտնաբերեց հաշվի պակասորդի մասին կեղծ տեղեկություններ, փոստային բաժանմունքը մասնաճյուղի կառավարիչներին մեղադրեց անազնվության մեջ և նրանց պարտավորեցրեց վերադարձնել գումարը։

Ընդհանուր առմամբ, զեկույցում նշվում է, որ սխալ տեղեկատվության հիման վրա քրեական պատասխանատվության է ենթարկվել և դատապարտվել մոտ 1000 մարդ։ Այդ ժամանակվանից ի վեր կառավարությունն օրենք է ընդունել՝ դատավճիռները չեղյալ համարելու և տուժածներին փոխհատուցում վճարելու համար։
