Ըստ նոր հետազոտության՝ խոլերայի, Էբոլայի և կարմրուկի նման հիվանդությունների բռնկումների ժամանակ արտակարգ պատվաստումները վերջին քառորդ դարում այդ հիվանդություններից մահացությունը կրճատել են գրեթե 60%-ով։
Ենթադրվում է նաև, որ կանխվել է վարակման դեպքերի համանման քանակ, իսկ ենթադրյալ տնտեսական օգուտը կազմել է միլիարդավոր եվրոներ։ Պատվաստանյութերի Գավի դաշինքը, որն աջակցել է այս հետազոտությանը, հայտարարել է, որ համագործակցել է Ավստրալիայի Բերնեթի ինստիտուտի հետազոտողների հետ՝ աշխարհում առաջին անգամ վերլուծելու հանրային առողջապահության և առողջապահության ոլորտում գլոբալ անվտանգության վրա արտակարգ իմունիզացիայի պատմական ազդեցությունը։
Հետազոտության մեջ, որի արդյունքները հրապարակվել են British Medical Journal (BMJ) Global Health ամսագրում, ուսումնասիրվել է հինգ վարակիչ հիվանդությունների՝ խոլերայի, Էբոլայի, կարմրուկի, մենինգիտի և դեղին տենդի 210 բռնկում ցածր եկամուտ ունեցող 49 երկրներում 2000-ից 2023 թվականների ընթացքում։
Այս պայմաններում պատվաստանյութերի ներդրումը հսկայական ազդեցություն է ունեցել, և հետազոտությունը ցույց է տվել, որ դրանք գրեթե 60%-ով կրճատել են վարակների և մահերի թիվը բոլոր հինգ հիվանդությունների դեպքում։ Որոշ հիվանդությունների դեպքում ազդեցությունն էլ ավելի նշանակալի է եղել։
Պարզվել է, որ պատվաստումը դեղին տենդի բռնկումների ժամանակ մահացությունը նվազեցնում է 99%-ով, իսկ Էբոլայի դեպքում՝ 76%-ով։ Միևնույն ժամանակ, արտակարգ պատվաստումները զգալիորեն նվազեցրել են բռնկումների տարածման վտանգը։
Հաշվարկվել է նաև, որ 210 բռնկումների ընթացքում ձեռնարկված իմունիզացիայի ջանքերը գրեթե 32 միլիարդ դոլարի տնտեսական օգուտ են բերել՝ զուտ մահերի կանխարգելման և հաշմանդամության պատճառով կորցրած կյանքի տարիների հաշվին։
