ՄԱԿ-ի կողմից աջակցվող նոր զեկույցի համաձայն՝ մարդկության պատմության ընթացքում ամենամասշտաբային և ավերիչ երաշտներից մի քանիսը տեղի են ունեցել 2023 թվականից ի վեր, որոնք պայմանավորված են կլիմայի փոփոխությամբ և ցամաքային ու ջրային ռեսուրսների վրա անդադար ճնշմամբ: «Երաշտի թեժ կետերը աշխարհում 2023–2025» զեկույցը համապարփակ պատկերացում է տալիս այն մասին, թե ինչպես են երաշտները սրում աղքատությունը, սովը, էներգետիկ անապահովությունը և էկոհամակարգի փլուզումը:

Այս մասին հոդված է հրապարակել «Հիդրոօդերևութաբանության և մոնիթորինգի կենտրոն» ՊՈԱԿ-ը։

Համաշխարհային օդերևութաբանական կազմակերպությունը (ՀՕԿ) երաշտի կառավարման ինտեգրված ծրագիր է իրականացնում՝ աջակցելու քաղաքականության մշակմանը: ՀՕԿ-ը վաղուց է որդեգրել երաշտի կառավարման առաջադեմ, նախաձեռնողական քաղաքականությունը, այլ ոչ թե ներկայիս ռեակտիվ, ճգնաժամային մոտեցումը:
 
Օրինակ, Արևելյան և Հարավային Աֆրիկայում ավելի քան 90 միլիոն մարդ մատնված է սովի: Որոշ տարածքներում պատմության մեջ ամենածանր երաշտային պայմաններն են դիտվում: 2024 թվականի օգոստոսին արդեն երաշտի հակված Հարավային Աֆրիկան ավերվել էր, բնակչության մոտ մեկ վեցերորդը (68 միլիոն մարդ) կարիք ուներ պարենային օգնության: Իսպանիայում ջրի պակասը հարվածել է գյուղատնտեսությանը, զբոսաշրջությանը և կենցաղային ջրամատակարարմանը:
 
2023 թվականի սեպտեմբերին, երկու տարվա երաշտը և ռեկորդային շոգը Իսպանիայում ձիթապտղի բերքը 50%-ով կրճատել էր, ինչը կրկնապատկել էր ձիթայուղի գինը ամբողջ երկրում: 2023 և 2024 թվականներին Ամազոնի ավազանում ջրի ռեկորդային ցածր մակարդակը հանգեցրել է ձկների և դելֆինների զանգվածային մահվան, ինչպես նաև հազարավոր մարդկանց խմելու ջրի մատակարարման և տրանսպորտի միջոցների խափանումների: Քանի որ սրվում են անտառահատումները և հրդեհները, Ամազոնը սպառնում է ածխածնի կլանիչից վերածվել ածխածնի աղբյուրի:
 
Երաշտը խաթարել է Հարավարևելյան Ասիայում հիմնական մշակաբույսերի, ինչպիսիք են բրինձը, սուրճը և շաքարը, արտադրության և մատակարարման շղթաները: Օրինակ, 2023-2024 թվականներին Թաիլանդում և Հնդկաստանում չորային պայմանները հանգեցրել են պարենային ճգնաժամի, շաքարի և քաղցրավենիքի գների 8.9%-ով աճի Միացյալ Նահանգներում:
 
Զեկույցը առաջարկում է ամրապնդել վաղ նախազգուշացման համակարգերը, երաշտի և դրա ազդեցության իրական ժամանակի մոնիթորինգը, ներառյալ այն պայմանները, որոնք նպաստում են սննդի և ջրի պակասին: Ջրհավաք ավազանների վերականգնումը և տեղական մշակաբույսերի օգտագործումը նույնպես կարող են օգնել:
