Տուվալու կղզային պետությունը պատրաստվում է վերաբնակեցնել իր բոլոր 11000 քաղաքացիներին՝ ծովի մակարդակի բարձրացման և փոթորիկների ուժգնացման պատճառով։ 2023 թվականից ի վեր Ավստրալիայի հետ ուժի մեջ է մտել կլիմայական վիզայով միգրանտների աստիճանական ընդունման վերաբերյալ համաձայնագիր։

«Տուվալուի միջին բարձրությունը ծովի մակարդակից ընդամենը 2 մետր է։ Ջերմաստիճանի բարձրացումը ոչ միայն հանգեցնում է սառույցի հալմանը, այլև մեծացնում է արդեն իսկ կղզիները ողողող փոթորիկների ուժգնությունը։ 2025 թվականի հուլիս ամսվա դրությամբ Ավստրալիայի հանձնաժողովը ստացել էր վերաբնակեցման գրեթե 9000 դիմում՝ դա երկրի գրեթե ամբողջ չափահաս բնակչությունն է։ Ըստ Նոր Հարավային Ուելսի համալսարանի հետազոտող Ջեյն ՄաքԱդամի խոսքերի Ավստրալիայում և Նոր Զելանդիայում վերաբնակեցման այլ ծրագրերի հետ համատեղ, բնակիչների մինչև 4%-ը կարող է ամեն տարի լքել երկիրը, կամ բնակչության գրեթե կեսը մեկ տասնամյակի ընթացքում։
Մինչ տեղափոխման աշխատանքները շարունակվում են, Տուվալուի իշխանությունները սկսել են կղզիների եռաչափ 3D սկանավորումը՝ կորուսյալ լանդշաֆտի և մշակութային վայրերի թվային պատճենը պահպանելու համար։ Սա անհետացող երկիրը պահպանելու և պատմության մեջ նրա մասին հետք թողնելու փորձ է։
ՄԱԿ-ի զարգացման ծրագրի տվյալներով՝ մինչև 2050 թվականը հարյուր միլիոնավոր բնակչություն ունեցող ափամերձ քաղաքները կբախվեն հաճախակի ջրհեղեղների։ ՄԱԿ-ի գնահատականների համաձայն՝ ծովի մակարդակի բարձրացումն արդեն ազդում է աշխարհի մոտ մեկ միլիարդ մարդու վրա»,-նշել է նա։
