Սոմալիի մայրաքաղաք Մոգադիշոյում օդանավակայանի երկու աշխատակցի են ձերբակալել, որոնց կասկածում են A321 ուղեւորատար ինքնաթիռ ռումբ փոխադրելուն օգնելու մեջ:
Ավելի վաղ աֆրիկյան երկրի իշխանությունները խոստովանել էին, որ Daallo Airlines ավիաընկերության օդանավում պայթուցիկ սարք է գործի դրվել:
CNN-ի փոխանցմամբ, ռումբը դյուրակիր համակարգչում է եղել: Տեսահսկման խցիկներն արձանագրել են այն պահը, երբ օդանավակայանի աշխատակիցներից մեկը համակարգիչը փոխանցել է գործընկերոջը: Վերջինն իր հերթին համակարգիչը տվել է Աբդուլլահի Աբդիսալամ Բորլեհ անունով մի տղամարդու, որը, ենթադրաբար, այն օդանավ է բարձրացրել:
Ըստ ՏԱՍՍ-ի, Սոմալիի իշխանությունները հակված են կարծել, որ պայթյունի հետեւում կանգնած է «Աշ Շաբաբ» իսլամիստական խմբավորումը:
