Իսրայելի անվտանգության կաբինետը օգոստոսի 7-ին կհավաքվի՝ քննարկելու Գազայի հատվածի հնարավոր «լիակատար ռազմական զավթումը», ներառյալ՝ այն տարածքները, որտեղ կարող են գտնվել պատանդներ։ Նախագծի մասին հաղորդում է The Jerusalem Post պարբերականը՝ առանց կոնկրետ աղբյուրներ նշելու։
Նիստ հրավիրելու որոշումն ընդունվել է վարչապետ Բենիամին Նեթանյահուի անցկացրած փակ նիստից հետո։ Քննարկմանը մասնակցել են պաշտպանության նախարար Իսրայել Կացը և ՑԱԽԱԼ-ի գլխավոր շտաբի պետ Էյալ Զամիրը։ Ինչպես պարզաբանել է վարչապետի գրասենյակը, մոտ երեք ժամ տևած նիստում Զամիրը ներկայացրել է Գազայում հետագա գործողությունների տարբերակներ և հայտարարել, որ բանակը «լիովին պատրաստ է ցանկացած կերպ իրականացնել դրանք»։
Մեկ օր առաջ Ynet պորտալը, հղում անելով Նեթանյահուի շրջապատի աղբյուրներին, հայտնել էր, որ քաղաքական ղեկավարությունը մոտ է Գազայի լիակատար գրավման վերաբերյալ որոշում ընդունելուն։ Պարբերականի զրուցակիցներից մեկը նշել է. «Վիճակը նետված է», քանի որ պատանդների ազատ արձակման շուրջ բանակցությունները փակուղի են մտել, և Իսրայելն «այլընտրանք չունի, բացի ռազմական լուծումից»։ Միաժամանակ, ըստ Ynet-ի, բանակի ղեկավարությունը, ներառյալ՝ Զամիրը, դեմ է նման քայլին։
