Սիլիկոնյան հովտի առաջատար տեխնոլոգիական ընկերությունները մեծ ներդրումներ են կատարում «ավելի խելացի» սերունդ ստեղծելու համար՝ օգտագործելով առաջադեմ գենետիկական թեստավորում և սաղմերի ընտրության տեխնիկա, հաղորդում է The Wall Street Journal-ը։

Nucleus Genomics և Herasight ստարտափները առաջարկում են 6,000-ից մինչև 50,000 դոլար արժողությամբ սաղմերի գենետիկական թեստավորում՝ այդպիսով կանխատեսելով սաղմի ոչ միայն հիվանդության ռիսկերը, այլև պոտենցիալ ինտելեկտը: Նման ծառայությունների պահանջարկն արագորեն աճում է:

Սան Ֆրանցիսկոյից ինժեներների մի զույգ ստեղծել է բարդ գնահատման համակարգ՝ «օպտիմալ» սաղմն ընտրելու համար՝ հաշվի առնելով հիվանդության ռիսկերը և կանխատեսված IQ-ն:
«Սա հիանալի գիտաֆանտաստիկ պատմություն է. հարուստները ստեղծում են գենետիկական սուպերկաստա, որը գերիշխում է», - ասում է Սթենֆորդի համալսարանի իրավունքի և կենսաբանական գիտությունների կենտրոնի տնօրեն Հենք Գրիլին։
Գիտնականները կարծում են` սաղմերի գենետիկական կատարելագործումը ի վերջո կծառայի որպես արհեստական բանականության սպառնալիքի դեմ պաշտպանություն։ Բերկլիի գենոմիկայի նախագծի համահիմնադիր Բենսոն Թիլսենի խոսքով՝ ավելի զարգացած ինտելեկտ ունեցող մարդիկ կկարողանան պարզել, թե ինչպես արհեստական բանականությունը համապատասխանեցնել մարդկային արժեքներին կամ համոզել ուրիշներին ընդհանրապես չզարգացնել այն։
