Սլովակիայի վարչապետ Ռոբերտ Ֆիցոն իր սոցիալական ցանցերում հրապարակված և Ուկրաինայի վերաբերյալ Եվրոպական խորհրդի նիստին մասնակցելուց հետո ձայնագրված երեք րոպեանոց տեսանյութում պնդել է, որ «հակամարտությունը դադարեցնելու առաջին հիմնական նախապայմանն այն ըմբռնումն է, որ Ուկրաինան ՆԱՏՕ-ի անդամ պետություն չի կարող դառնալ», գրում է The Guardian-ը։
Նա նշել է, որ նախկինում էլ է արտահայտել այդ տեսակետը և բախվել կոշտ քննադատության։
«Նույնքան կարևոր է այն իրական ըմբռնումը, որ առանց Ուկրաինայում տարածքային փոփոխությունների քննարկման անհնար է առաջընթացի հասնել»,- նշել է Ռոբերտ Ֆիցոն։
Նա հավելել է, որ հիասթափված է նրանից, որ ԵՄ-ն «պետք է սպասի, որ Դոնալդ Թրամփը ցույց տա մեզ խաղաղության ճանապարհը»՝ ԱՄՆ նախագահի նախաձեռնությունը անվանելով «հսկայական անձնական հաջողություն»։
Ֆիցոն միաժամանակ մերժել է այն առաջարկը, որ ԵՄ երկրները կարող են մասնակցել Ուկրաինայի համար 100 միլիարդ եվրոյի ռազմական տեխնիկայի գնմանը՝ հայտարարելով, որ դա «վատ կատակ» է հնչում։ Նա ընդգծել է, որ չի կարող պատկերացնել մի իրավիճակ, երբ Սլովակիան գումար կծախսի ամերիկյան զենքի վրա՝ այն անվճար Ուկրաինա ուղարկելու համար։
