Սիտկայի և Ալյասկայի արքեպիսկոպոս Ալեքսին ներողություն է խնդրել Ռուսաստանի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինի հետ Ալյասկայում հանդիպման համար: Նրա հայտարարության տեքստը հրապարակվել է Ամերիկայի Ուղղափառ Եկեղեցու կայքում:
Արքեպիսկոպոսը հայտարարել է, որ «խորապես զղջում է» իր գործողությունների արդյունքում առաջացած «սկանդալի» համար։
«Որպես Սիտկայի և Ալյասկայի արքեպիսկոպոս՝ ես Ամերիկայի Ուղղափառ Եկեղեցու Եպիսկոպոսների Սուրբ Սինոդի անդամ եմ, որը նախագահում է Նորին Գերազանցություն Մետրոպոլիտ Տիխոնը։ Հետևաբար, ես հետևում եմ այս ողբերգական պատերազմի վերաբերյալ Սուրբ Սինոդի ցուցումներին և հովվական խորհուրդներին և ձգտում եմ Ալյասկայի հավատացյալներին առաջնորդել աղոթքի և ողորմության գործերի մեջ՝ հանուն բոլոր տառապողների։ Ալյասկայի թեմը Ամերիկայի Ուղղափառ Եկեղեցու թեմերից մեկն է, որը ինքնավար եկեղեցի է, որի առաքելությունը տարածվում է Հյուսիսային բևեռային շրջանից մինչև Կենտրոնական Ամերիկա և ընդգրկում է բազմաթիվ ժողովուրդների, մշակույթներ և լեզուներ։ Անցյալ շաբաթ ես ողջունեցի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Պուտինին Անքորիջի գագաթնաժողովի ժամանակ՝ խաղաղ հյուրընկալության ոգով, ամբողջ թեմում երեք օր շարունակ խաղաղության համար աղոթելուց հետո։
Դրանից հետո շատերից լսել եմ, որ այդ պահը դիտարկվել է որպես կշտամբանքի կամ շարունակվող հակամարտության և տառապանքների պայմաններում խաղաղություն պահանջելու բաց թողնված հնարավորություն։ Եվս մեկ անգամ կրկնում եմ, բոլորից, ովքեր իմ գործողությունները տխրության կամ շփոթության պատճառ են համարել՝ ես անկեղծորեն ներողություն եմ խնդրում», - նշվում է արքեպիսկոպոս Ալեքսիոսի հայտարարության մեջ։
