Այս երկարոտն, գեղեցիկ կազմվածքով աղջիկը Օհայո նահանգից է, 17 տարեկանում մասնացել է տարբեր գեղեցկության մրցույթների եւ «Միսս Կոլումբոս» մրցույթին երկրորդ տեղն է զբաղեցրել, որից հետո մասնակցել է «Միսս Ամերիկա» մրցույթին՝ ներկայացնելով հարազատ նահանգը։ Սակայն աղջիկը հրաժարվել է հետագա մրցույթներից, իր գեղեցկությունից, քանի որ․․․ երազում էր տղամարդ դառնալ։
 
Եւ այսօր նա վերածվել է Էշթոն Կոլբիի՝ 23 տարեկան։ Նա պատմում է, որ դեռ մանկուց իրեն ասես ուրիշ մարմնում զգար, եւ որքան էլ իր գեղեցկության մասին գեղեցիկ խոսքեր լսեր, միեւնույնն է՝ իրեն վատ էր զգում։ Մայրը ցանկանում էր, որ դուստրը գեղեցիկ զգեստներ կրի, բալետով զբաղվի, մինչդեռ ինքը բեյսբոլ էր նախընտրում եւ տղայի շորեր։ Դեռահաս տարիքում նա զգում է, որ իրեն աղջիկներն են գրավում եւ հայտնում է ընտանիքին, որ ինքը լեսբուհի է։ Ընտանիքը սկսում է ստիպել նրան ավելի կանացի լինել, շպարտվել, մրցույթների մասնակցել՝ կարծելով, որ նա կփոխվի։
 
«Դպրոցում աղջիկները նախանձում էին, թե ինչ տեսք ունեմ։ Իմ ընտանիքը հպարտ էր ինձնով, որ գեղեցիկ եմ, բայց ինձ համար այդ ամենն օտար էր»,- պատմում է նա։ Արդյունքում նա հստակ որոշում է կայացնում՝ փոխելու սեռը։ Նրան վիրահատության համար 8 հազար դոլար էր անհրաժեշտ, եւ հայրը հասկանում եւ օգնում է նրան։ «Մայրս իրեն ջախջախված էր զգում։ Նա մի քանի ամիս ինձ հետ չէր խոսում, սակայն երբ հայրս համակերպվեց այդ ամենին, մայրս զիջեց։ Ես ինձ տղամարդու մարմնում երջանիկ եմ զգում, այսպես իսկական եմ»,- ասում է Էշթոնը։
 
«Նա ինձ սիրում է այնպիսին, ինչպիսին ես կամ։ Ես երջանիկ եմ, մենք պատրաստվում ենք երեխաներ որդեգրել»,- ասում է նա։
