«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է.

Ժամանակակից հնգամարտը սպորտաձև է, որը ներառում է հինգ մարզաձև՝ սուսերամարտ, լող, ձիավարություն, հրաձգություն և կրոս վազք:

Իսկ ընդհանրապես, բազմամարտը հնագույն սպորտաձև է։ Դեռ մ.թ.ա. 710 թվականին են հնագույն օլիմպիական խաղերի ժամանակ Հին Հունաստանում բազմամարտերի մրցումներ անցկացվել։ Ի տարբերություն ժամանակակից հնգամարտի, դրանց մասնակցում էին միայն տղամարդիկ, իսկ մրցումներն ինքնին բաղկացած էին ըմբշամարտից, մարաթոնից, հեռացատկից, նիզակի նետումից և սկավառակի նետումից։

Ժամանակակից հնգամարտը ծագել է Շվեյցարիայում 19-րդ դարի կեսերին և կապված է ֆրանսիացի գործիչ Պիեռ դե Կուբերտենի անվան հետ։ Կուբերտենը կարծում էր, որ սպորտի այդ հինգ տեսակը լավագույնս կարող է բացահայտել զինվորական սպաների ֆիզիկական վիճակն ու ոգին: Ինչպես կարելի է այդ ամենից կռահել, հնգամարտի մրցույթին կարող էին մասնակցել միայն սպա մարզիկները։ Այն ժամանակ այդ սպորտաձևը այդպես էլ կոչվում էր՝ սպայական հնգամարտ: Հենց Կուբերտենի շնորհիվ էլ սպայական հնգամարտը ներառվել է 1912 թվականի ամառային Օլիմպիական խաղերի ծրագրում։ Այդ սպորտաձևի ժամանակակից անվանումը հայտնվել է 1948 թվականին, երբ Լոնդոնում հիմնադրվել է Ժամանակակից հնգամարտի միջազգային ֆեդերացիան։ Այդ ժամանակվանից էլ սկսել են բոլորին թույլատրել մասնակցել մրցումներին։

Իսկ որո՞նք են ժամանակակից հնգամարտի կանոնները: Յուրաքանչյուր դիստանցիայի ավարտը մարզիկին բերում է 250 միավոր՝ չհաշված ձիավարությունը, որտեղ շնորհվում է նախնական 300 միավոր։ Լողը 200 մետր տարածության է, որը պետք է անցնել ազատ ոճով։ Ստանդարտը 2 րոպե 30 վայրկյան է, յուրաքանչյուր 0,3 վայրկյան ավել-պակասը մեկ միավոր է ավելացնում կամ հանում: Սուսերամարտը շարունակվում է մինչև մասնակիցներից մեկի առաջին հարվածը։ Եթե մենամարտի 1 րոպեի ընթացքում ոչ մի մարզիկ հարված չի հասցնում, ապա երկուսն էլ համարվում են պարտված։ 2009 թվականից որոշվել է համատեղել հրաձգությունն ու վազքը, որոնք ի սկզբանե առանձին էին։ Մարզիկները սկսում են վազքը միմյանցից որոշակի ինտերվալներով հեռավորությամբ, ինտերվալների տևողությունները ուղղակիորեն կախված են նախորդ մրցումների արդյունքներից: Ըստ կանոնների, մարզիկը պետք է վազի 4 սեգմենտ, որոնցից յուրաքանչյուրը 800 մետր է և ունի մեկ կրակակետ։ Մարզիկները սահմանափակված չեն կրակոցների քանակով, սակայն հատկացված 50 վայրկյանի ընթացքում նրանք պետք է խոցեն հինգ թիրախ։ Հաջորդը ձիավարությունն է կամ շոու ցատկը: Անհրաժեշտ է ձիով հաղթահարել 300400 մետր տարածություն, որտեղ, համապատասխանաբար, 120 և 150 մետր տարածության վրա առկա են բարձրությամբ և լայնությամբ խոչընդոտներ։ Այդ փուլի սկզբում հնգամարտիկին շնորհվում է 300 միավոր, որից մրցավարները միավորներ են հանում ժամանակի կամ տեխնիկական սխալների համար։ Վերջնական հաշվարկը և հաղթողին որոշելը լինում է ըստ հնգամարտիկի վաստակած միավորների:
