ԱՄՆ-ում 101 տարեկանում մահացել է մորմոնների կազմակերպության պատմության մեջ ամենատարեց նախագահը

Մորմոնների կազմակերպության՝ «Հիսուս Քրիստոսի վերջին օրերի սրբերի եկեղեցու» պատմության մեջ ամենատարեց նախագահ Ռասել Նելսոնը շաբաթ երեկոյան մահացել է 101 տարեկանում, հաղորդում է NBC News-ը։
Նելսոնը մահացել է Սոլթ Լեյք Սիթիի իր տանը, ասվում է եկեղեցու ներկայացուցիչ Քենդիս Մեդսենի հայտարարության մեջ։
Նելսոնը՝ նախկին կարդիովիրաբույժը, կազմակերպության ղեկավարության բարձրագույն մակարդակներում անցկացրել է չորս տասնամյակ՝ 1984 թվականին ընտրվելուց հետո «Տասներկու առաքյալների քվորում» կոչվող բարձրագույն ղեկավար մարմնում։
Նա նախագահի պաշտոնը ստանձնել է 2018 թվականի հունվարին, երբ մահացել է Թոմաս Մոնսոնը, իսկ 2024 թվականին դարձել է կազմակերպության առաջին նախագահը, որը հասել է հարյուրամյա սահմանագծին։
«Մորմոնական եկեղեցի» անունով հայտնի կազմակերպության հաջորդ նախագահի անունը դեռ հայտնի չէ, սակայն ակնկալվում է, որ արձանագրության համաձայն՝ դա կլինի Դալին Օուքսը։ Նա «Տասներկու առաքյալների» ղեկավար քվորումի հաջորդ անդամն է, ով ամենաերկարն է ծառայել կազմակերպությունում։
